The motel is on two levels with garages underneath. Try to get a room within the courtyard as Lombard Street is quite busy and you could get some noise disturbance. The rooms are a bit dated in terms of the decor but are comfortable and well equipped with a separate kitchen area with large fridge/ freezer microwave and cooker. The shower is nice and large also and the water pressure good. Bed was a bit on the small side. The area is safe and a walk to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Fine Arts Museum is possible from here. Very pleasant stay and good value.

We stayed here for 1 night and in a street facing room. I highly recommend either moving hotels if they can't change your room location. It was so loud with all the traffic all night long possibly the worst nights sleep. The bed would move with each truck that went past. The room was very big with its own kitchen and parking but it's not worth the price with the amount of noise from the road. The shower oozed black stuff from the drain and wouldn't drain properly so you'd be standing in a few inches of water by the end of your shower. Front staff are rude and not approachable.

Good location. We stayed in a suite facing Lombard. Having read other reviews, I knew that the street-facing rooms would be noisy, but we wanted a place with a kitchenette, and the street-facing room was the only one available at the time. The reviews do not exaggerate. Since we were in room 50, which is the room on one end, we were nearest a bus stop. I heard the bus every morning, even though I slept in the bedroom, which was further away from the street.

The garage was pretty tight. Backing up onto Lombard is a little nerve-racking, but I only used the car when I arrived and left. There are reprieves from traffic, so it is possible to back up quickly and safely. The kitchenette was very convenient as we made breakfast every morning instead of eating out. I did notice that there were a lot of flies outside our door everyday, which was disgusting since a couple made it into our room when we opened the door. The television is in the bedroom because of the lack of space in the living/kitchen area, and while we didn't watch much TV, someone who is interested in doing so would be very disappointed as the channels kept going out and the reception was terrible. Sometimes the volume would go out, and sometimes the images. Wifi, however, was consistently good.

I asked the front desk to call a taxi for us one morning when we were running late, and it arrived in a timely manner. The next day, we decided to take the bus to Fisherman's Wharf since we had more time, and Bus 30 was right around the corner. We took Bus 30 back from Ghirardelli easily.

A Walgreen's is nearby, and there is a Thai restaurant on Scott and Lombard that was delicious. Chester, the parallel street, is full of shops and restaurants, so I highly recommend walking around there if you don't feel like going to the main touristy areas. Overall, our 3 nights at Marina was pleasant, a good base for all the activities we had planned.

Room Tip: Street-facing rooms are especially loud in the mornings, and the garage attached to those rooms forc...

I have stayed here a few times and find this a great option if you need/want to stay in the Marina. If you get one of the rooms facing the courtyard you don't hear the heavy traffic outside and can sleep very well at night. The rooms are clean and the staff is kind.

Room Tip: Get a courtyard room if noise bothers you.

Room feels more like your own apt rather than a motel room and landscaping in inner courtyard is gorgeous. Don't be fooled by the comparatively drab streetview. Loved this place and all of the wonderful eateries and shops on Steiner and neighboring streets.

We stayed in room 44 right on Lombard Street. The room was very clean and all of the appliances in the kitchen looked new. We had no problem parking our car in the garage right on Lombard. Easy in and out even with traffic. Location is convenient to everything. Bus stop right out front. One block over from the charming Chestnut St. with many choices for dining out, coffee, wine bar etc. We found the receptionist at the front desk very helpful and friendly. I will agree the noise on Lombard and even in the court yard (late arrivals) was much more than I expected (even after being prepared after reviews here) but we found running the fan (found in the closet) provided great white noise to block a lot of it out (just wish we thought of that our first night not our last).

We had a very clean suite - a bedroom, kitchen (large) and bathroom. Interesting external decor. The location is ideal for staying in SF, with easy access to local transport - the no 30 bus gets you right into town and for senior people it costs .75 cents.

The only difficulty was that our suite was located on the main road (Lombard Street) and the noise took a bit of getting used to. Nevertheless, we had maid service every day and excellent value for money. We would come back and stay here, if we returned to SF.

Room Tip: Ask for a back room, not one facing onto Lombard Street.
