Nice hotel but it was the staff that made the stay great Everyone was helpful and eager to make the stay great. Good location near Union Square. Nice wine reception every evening, chocolate in afternoon and coffee in the morning. Nice European style bar but a bit expensive. The only thing missing was a view overlooking San Francisco.

Dear Paul M,

Thank you for all of the compliments. And I agree with you… I would like for us to have views overlooking San Francisco, too. If they would only allow me to build a couple more floors on top of the building.

Best,
Jason

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The staff were all lovely and really helpful! Guys downstairs at the door were so sweet and always looked happy. Our room was a good size not huge but not small. The rooms were not overly flashy but they were clean and comfortable and felt more like home rather than a hotel room which is a nice feeling when travelling around. We ate at the Grand Cafe which joins onto the hotel for breakfast and it was fine.. Ordered room service from there one of the nights food was pretty standard, mac n cheese was very bland! Staff were nice though.
As for the location there was a market and a pharmacy across the road, your about a block away from lots of shops and there were some restaurants and places to eat nearby. The area the hotel is in feels a bit seedy though its about a block away from the Tenderloin area and there were so many homeless people wandering around. I definitely wouldn't have gone walking around at night and I always felt nervous when I was outside the hotel. The homeless people wouldn't just ask for money and move on they would actually stand there talking to you and asking you for ages, it was really unnerving. It could however be like this everywhere in San Fran as there are so many homeless people and I've heard there can be a lot near hotels at Fishermans Wharf too. San Francisco is a beautiful city but I will admit I was glad to only be there 3 nights. Hotel rooms were good though and staff were lovely! No problems with the actual hotel itself!

Great location being close to Downtown, excellently styled with new finishings, comfortable bed/pillows (a must), clean/good shower, fantastic service from all staff. We stayed just for two nights and it was great. Recommended for all, as a couple we loved it.

Dear Stan_Savellis,

Sorry. I keep getting distracted by your profile picture. Was that taken at the Monaco?

Thank you for the kind words. We loved having you both stay here, as well.

Best,
Jason

While staying at your fine establishment, with very comfortable beds, beautiful rooms and great location, we had the pleasure of meeting one of your finest employees Timothy Huls - he is excellent with his knowledge, directions and recommendations. His welcoming smile made me feel at home. I recommend my family and friends to Hotel Monaco and encourage them to meet Timothy as he will make your stay that much better.

A very attractive hotel with wonderful décor: kitsch/glam. The staff were very friendly and helpful with advice and suggestions even though were arrived, teeth chattering, covered in dust, in shorts, from Yosemite. It really can be cold as we'd been told, even in the height of summer. Rooms were very comfortable and quiet, in rrom yoga mats etc were a novelty to us as British travellers: we appreciated the complimentary wine in the afternoon and coffee in the morning. The hotel has a great location, : we even enjoyed a walk straight back along Tyler, from Fisherman's wharf, which gave us great impression of the beauty 0f Sam Francisco and its architecture. It was a good use of an hour or so of our very short stay.
We chose public parking (plenty very close by as a cheaper alternative). Good restaurant close to the hotel, and also the theatres. Public transport in good too.

The hotel hit all the marks - friendly, attentive staff; clean, large rooms, comfy beds with fresh duvets, great location in the city (about 10 min walk to BART) but no noticeable street noise. It would be great if they offered free wifi; it was necessary to take care of a bit of business while on our vacation, which set us back about $30 for use of the computer/internet. Would absolutely stay here again. The price also seemed comparable to other 4-star hotels in the same area, and I feel like we chose well. If you must bring a car, as we did, go for the parking package or you might get shell out about $52/night for overnight parking.

Dear D L,
Thank you for the high marks from a self-identified picky traveler.

We do offer complimentary wifi for people who sign up for our Kimpton InTouch loyalty program. It is free and easy to sign up and you can earn credit for free stays with us (plus many other benefits).

I, agree. Parking is incredibly expensive in the city. If you want the convenience and luxury of valet parking, we will be happy to take care of it for you. Otherwise, we can recommend other garages in the area where you may be able to find less expensive rates.

Best,
Jason
