I got this room at a great price in San Francisco. Moral of the story: You get what you pay for. The hotel is f-u-n-k-y. The lobby, elevator, staircase, and hallways are all a little worse for the wear. Like duct tape holding a few things together, and lots of stains here and there. So was the bathroom in my room. The paint was peeling up from my tub. Never a pretty sight. And the curtains looked like someone had hurled entire pots of coffee on them repeatedly. Yuck!
But here's the glass half full: My room was large and quiet. It looked out over a garden at the back of the hotel, and I slept like a baby, hearing no street noise at all. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. Thank goodness! And the staff was very friendly about letting me out of my reservation when I was able to move to a nicer hotel after two nights.
For someone who is not a cleanliness nut, which unfortunately I am, this hotel has a fun style and is in a relatively good location (one direction takes you to Union Square, other straight into the Tenderloin), and is well priced. But if you expect clean, pick another hotel.More
