The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The wine tasting was a nice touch. The worst part of the hotel was the smell. There is an unpleasant odor throughout the building. It was similar to a moldy smell but I never saw mold. They could have done a better job cleaning the room. There was a cockroach in my room but it was the only one I saw. I was on the back side of the hotel and the street noise was horrible. My last night there I checked out at 1am for a 7:30 flight, because of the drunks outside on the streets and the sirens. Way too much noise to sleep, at least for me. There is a stocked fridge in the room but the prices are insanely high ($5.00 for a candy bar). It is a 1/2 block from Powell Street and the Cable Car which was nice. The restaurant inside is closed until May. They do have a parking plan but the garage is a block away from the hotel (750 Bush St). The garage was 24/7 and very friendly.
If I ever go back to SF I would look elsewhere but could stay again.

Just got back from a week at the Executive Vintage Court Hotel and can't say enough nice things about it! The staff was helpful and friendly, the room was charming, the location was fantastic - walking distance to market, Starbucks, great shopping, and public transportation. It was a perfect home base for our trip. I would definitely stay here again!!

Room Tip: Just check out the bathrooms - the size of the shower and sink area varies in different rooms!

This is an older hotel full of charm. Vincent was great. The whole staff was good to work with. Each was eager to hear about our travels and how to build on to next days outing. The wine tasting was very relaxing and we got to met people from all over the world. this was actually something we looked forward to. We got to hear about other parts of the city and different trips. Mia did a great job getting us lunch at Chez Panisse for our wedding anniversary. Getting around San Francisco was so much easier than I expected because of the location.

Room Tip: The internet works better in the center of building.

We have stayed at the Executive Vintage Court Hotel several times. It has a perfect location, close to Union Square, Chinatown, Financial district, etc, in SF. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We also appreciate the "wine hour" when complimentary wine is served; it is great sitting down at the fireplace sipping wine after a day of running around in the city or listening to conference talks. This time we stayed four nights and had the great fortune of getting a king size room high up in the hotel with windows in two directions. We never had such a nice room at previous visits and thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Room Tip: A king size room is worth additional charge. A corner room gives a lot of air and an impression of a...

We recently stayed at the Executive Hotel Vintage Court for 4 nights while doing a family vacation in San Francisco. We loved the property and the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful and completely knowledgeable about what to do and how to get around in the city. They were always eager to please. When I found the hotel online, I fell in love with it.......but was nervous after reading some of the reviews. I am so thankful that I didn't listen to the negative comments and change my plans because we would have missed out on a fabulous experience. For us, part of the allure was staying in a unique, smaller, historic place. The hotel is a lovely, quaint, historic property with great character.........very fitting for the city! It reminded me of some European hotels we have stayed in previously. Our room was plenty big and comfortable for my husband and I with our two sons. We had a nice bay window seat and a view of the street and neighboring businesses. We had our windows open at night and enjoyed the city sounds which included the cable car bells. The first night I had to get used to the traffic sounds which included garbage trucks, but learned to adjust to it with no problem. Our bathroom was compact, but very clean and comfortable....everything we needed. The wine reception was great, but we only made it one time because we were so busy! The hotel offers a simple breakfast buffet for a reasonable price.......very uncommon in San Francisco. If you want a larger hot breakfast, there are many options nearby. So in summary....if you want to stay in a lovely, clean, comfortable, historic place with an unbeatable staff and wonderful manager....this is it. If you want a large hotel with generic rooms where things are brand new/bland and you don't want to experience the sounds of the city, then you may prefer a chain or franchise hotel. People need to know what they want in a place to stay, and then match their choice to their expectations so they don't complain and possibly ruin it for someone else. I would stay here again in a minute and would love to go right back! The location is also perfect............away from the commercial, tourist areas!.....but close to Chinatown and convenient transportation. Loved everything about it!

We needed 2 rooms without breaking the bank in my favorite city for a long weekend with my 30 year old son and his wife. This hotel is so welcoming! Excellent staff, great location, very clean, great value, comfy king size bed, laptop safe, robes, coffee maker and a fridge. Thank you Hotel Vintage Court staff and Jasmine for your special attention in making this an awesome stay for us. Check out Uncle Vito's a half block up the hill. $6 meatball sandwich perfect at 10 pm, the gates to Chinatown 2 blocks away, Union Square close by and for the tourist in all of us, cable car to the wharf up the hill at Powell.

Room Tip: corner rooms have more light

I appreciate your comment that not only did you find our staff, inlcuding Jasmine, a delight but enjoyed the value of our rooms! In addition, as you mentioned our local favorite Vito’s Bistro is ideal for a great snack. This is where the SF icon Brown twins so often dined too. Got a great price on the room for a conference. However, the hot water went out for about 20 hours, which made it difficult to clean up. The management did nothing to compensate for the inconvience. The remainder of the week was good. The rooms have been remodeled to fit the original architecture with exposed cables and air conditioned insert in the windows, but that has preserved a lot of the charm of the 100 year old building. It is convenient to Union Square and the trolley.

Dear Recent Guest (and all): Our sincere apology to you as our guest was not received due to the lack of hot water. As you noted, the hotel did have one failed water pump that was replaced over night. And this situation did create a lack of hot water failure. As the General Manager, I have directly reached out to you, our guest by email to ensure a credit and refund of your stay is processed within reason. The pump of our water system failed but our hotel staff and management team cares dearly to insure all functions within our hotel works well. For instance, our hotel holds on-site two extra pumps to insure if issues arise they can be easily fixed. However, replacement even with parts on-hand requires specific actions, closure of lines and drains by a certified boiler mechanic to resolve, and in this case re-install.

Again, please accept our apologies on the lack of hot water during one morning of your stay. Additionally, I thank you for your comments on location and identity that the hotel has tried to maintain its 1913 Edwardian era structure and design. Yet with 1913 building we have some quirks that may take time to resolve in severe situations.

Please feel free to contract me directly anytime at gmvc@executivehotels.net or phone the hotel.

Sincerely,

Bill Engelhardt – General Manager
