“A decent motel for a decent price”
Reviewed April 12, 2011

The Oasis Inn is a great little motel in downtown San Francisco.
Definitely for the budget traveller, our room was clean, relatively spacious, with a coffee maker, cable tv, and free wifi (the last of which is, for some reason, not advertised, so it was a very pleasant surprise). Great value for the low price. Love the retro look of the exterior...very 70's style motel with tons of plants and trees about. There is a hot tub, but it wasn't in working order during our stay. The clerks at the front desk were friendly and accommodating. Literally less than a minute walk to the bus, and an hour's walk to Fisherman's Wharf and the Haight. I would certainly stay here again when I return to the amazing San Francisco.

The only attraction is the free parking. We did not want even want to take shower after we saw the condition of the room.

We booked a queen/king bed on the internet but when we arrived the man at the desk tried to convince us the 2 double beds were queens. Unbelievable. We refused the room, and all of a sudden there was a king available. It didn't get any better. It was stuffy, no air, carpet was filthy, the tub had rust in it, and the walls are so thin we heard loud traffic noise all night and a party started at 4am that took an hour to get the staff to end it. We were in the city for an event but we were so exhausted from the lack of sleep we left early. Don't waste your time or money here. Its for hookers and drug users. The hot tub was empty and all the ashtrays in the stairwells were filled. Nasty place. Spend the extra $30 and go to a reputable place. The free parking did not come with in and out privileges so we paid $60 in cab fare to get around. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!

We stayed at this hotel for a week in October. I was a little leery when reading the bed bug reviews, but checked the national bed bug data base - and this hotel was not on their list.

The hotel is in a very good location, about 7 blocks from Union Square and right near the opera house and symphony building - We stuck to walking and public transportation - so I recommend walking down Eddy Street or O'Farrell (Ellis street seemed to have more sketchy people).

We pulled apart the bed and bedding the first day to check for any bugs - and there was nothing - we did notice though that the cleaning staff do not lift the blankets to vacuum right next to the bed - it was quite dusty there.
We did have an encounter with one cockroach in our room, and he was quick! My husband bought roach killer from the 99cent store the next day and spread it in the doorway and window, and behind the vanity where we saw the cockroach - it then made it's appearance by the TV - and we snuffed it out with the roach killer and flushed him. My husband then checked every nook and crevice, behind the picture frames - and there was no more bugs to be seen. So I assume it was just a once in awhile scenario.

Like I said in the quote it was a really good location for the price you paid - the towels were changed everyday, and the bed made - the staff were super friendly.

Just around the block on Eddy Street is a Round Table pizza (Which is fantastic!)

ok so i read the wild reviews about bedbugs and all.... and i ignored them and booked the room. and to my surprise this hotel was actually kind of nice, i would book again if i had to. hotel was located a few blocks from where the pride celebrations where held. guy at front desk was kind of hard to understand but funny... rooms were actually cozy and faced franklin street which is a one way busy street. which i enjoyed the traffic noise. there were lots of party go'ers everywhere in that hotel. so ignore all the bad reviews. because we are a couple who are very picky in where we stay. my wife totally loved the hotel and she is extremely picky... so if she liked this hotel then obviously its a good one. next year when we go to sf pride again we are staying here again....

My sister and I went to SF for a funeral. We were driving up from San Diego and knew we'd be arriving late--say what you will about the desk clerk being "quirky", he was there waiting for us when we pulled in around 4am. (Thank you!) We chose the Oasis for its reasonable price, central location and free parking--all very much appreciated in San Francisco. The room was a bit shabby, but it was comfortable enough, and we didn't feel the least bit nervous about the neighborhood. May not be to everyone's taste, but for convenience and price, it was just fine for us. (And no bedbugs!)

Hotel is located at around 15 minute walk from Union Square which is about the city centre of San Francisco. If you have a rental car you can park it for free which is very convenient. Rooms are big with a lot of walking and place to store your luggage. There is no restaurant however small diners are located near.
