I stayed at the Hotel Union Square for one night in Feb. 07. It was a last minute business trip and this was the only hotel available near the Moscone Convention Center (about a 10-15 minute walk). The hotel was described to me by a co-worker as “boutique-y”, which is a nice way of saying that it’s not quite what I’m used to. My room was very small, and the shower in the bathroom was downright tiny. The furnishings were kind of funky and cool, but the walls/doors are not sound proof at all. I could here every alarm clock, phone call, TV, etc. from everyone on the hall, so a good night’s sleep was out. It reminded me of some of the older hotels I’ve stayed at in Europe (and that's not really a good thing).
The one bright spot was the lobby. The décor is cool, there was complimentary wine at happy hour, and the belldesk was very helpful with directions.
