This hotel is all about location and price. You will not be disappointed, BUT if you are not happy with your accommodations, politely speak with Alex and Jewels. They will do everything they can to make your stay perfect! The evening wine and the morning coffee is a welcome touch. Tad's, next door, is a must for early morning breakfast. Just down the street, Powell street cable car turnaround. Do not miss Kuleto's up the street for a great meal, or the easy peasy cocktail bar, Sir Frances Drake.

Room Tip: Accept the fact that people in the city are here to have a good time. Do not complain about hearing...

I loved this hotel! The location is great and the hotel itself is old, historic but kept up. I loved the exposed brick walls!

The room was good - we upgraded to the bigger room. We over looked the court yard.

Room Tip: If you over look the street your room will be loud from the street cars that run directly in front o...

Pretty hotel located right where you want to be. Staff is nice and helpful. The rooms are always neat and clean and the cleanliness of the place is very good overall. Wine and coffee is complimentary at certain time of the day. Location, I must repeat, is KEY in Downtown SF, and this hotel is perfect!! The cable car runs in front of the hotel and the bart station is a block away. You can walk to any place from this hotel. The ambience is great and very pleasant.

Perfect location! It is just a 15 minute walk to the Moscone Center and is close to shopping and several restaurants. The front desk and conceige desk are so helpful in giving directions and names of good restaurants. We really enjoyed the wine reception each night from 5-6 pm and also the free wi-fi in the room. We were on the 6th floor which was very quiet. The restaurant next door, Tad's Restarant has good and reasonably priced food. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 611, very quiet

Great little hotel directly downtown.
The rooms were a little small, however they were very clean. Bathrooms are very small also.
We had a room with a window on Ofarrel st.( I think it was room 207) and it was noisy at night, it was located on the second floor.
Nice touch with wine served at 5:30, it really makes a difference. Staff very polite and helpful.
Concierge even made our dinner reservation. It was very appreciated.
the one thing that I really was dissapointed with were the hallways to the rooms, they were narrow and dark, even during the day. They could use a little more lighting.
The couches in the lobby looked very shabby... they need to be ugraded.
I would recommend this hotel because of the cleanliness and location.
over all my experience was good.

Room Tip: get a room on the inside or in the back due to noise on the streets.

Dear Cubaisbeutifu;

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, as you probably noticed during your stay the lobby is undergoing a renovation and all the furniture will soon be replaced.
We hope that you will stay with us again and see by yourself our beautiful new lobby.

I stayed at the hotel as a tourist with my wife from November 1 to 5, 2013, and I continued to stay by myself for a conference through November 10 check out.
The location was more than perfect, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room phone was hard to use(Maybe it doesn't matter any more with everyone using cellular phones?), the bed was so so and the on-off button of the TV remote was jammed,so we had to turn the TV on and off manually, but still we really liked the place.
There was also no desk height table, however, so it is not so easy to work in the room. That may or may not be true of other rooms in the hotel. The cost was reasonable as we had a conference rate, and, again, the location absolutely can't be beat! And the staff!

Dear SParr,

Thank you very much for this very nice comment. I am glad you had a good stay with us, I am sorry nevertheless that everything wasn't as you wished. I don't know if the remote control problem you had was brought to the attention of the Front Desk but we should have found a solution for you. Regarding the desk, it is true that some rooms have one and others don't. If you consider staying with us next year, please contact us to let us know that you wish to have a room with a desk.
We hope that we will have the pleasure to accommodate you again.

Kind regards,

The staff are fantastic at this place - and it really does make all the differnece. Yes, the rooms are small, the building is old, and although it has at some stage had a "make-over" - probably could do with another one. I think however you'd be pushed to find a better location in San Francisco?. Outside cable cars run up and down Powell Street - with Westfield shopping centre at one end and Union Square (Macy's Department store) the other. Just a few streets up from Union Square is Chinatown.
