This was a 2 night stop on our 1 week west coast trip that started in San Diego and ended in Seattle. Researched extensively ahead of time. The good reviews are true. Staff at check-in were superb and glad to help with bus information. Left our rental car in front of office for the entire stay. Walked about 4 or 5 blocks to take public buses into the tourist areas. No problem.

Room was a little small, but clean and quiet. No problem. Nothing I would not expect in a urban area where space is a premium. Restaurant prices nearby were much more reasonable than the areas we took public transit to. The area around the Travelodge catered more to locals and their tastes and budget over the touristy areas closer to Fisherman's Wharf. An authentic San Francisco experience at a reasonable price.

Glad to hear you sampled the local cuisine. Our neighborhood is extremely eclectic with it's dining options. The staff was pleased to see your review, thank you. We were glad to be a part of the epic South to North journey and hope to see you again soon.

Lovely staff, very helpful in giving us local information and directions. Good value for money. Hotel located in a quiet location and neighbourhood didn't look too bad. Good access to buses and who could forget free parking as well. Once we arrived, we just left our car in the hotel and got around using the bus, armed with local knowledge from their friendly staff. The rooms are small in comparison with other places I have been in the USA. After travelling for a month in the USA, we managed to accumulate a fair bit of retail shopping, so we had quite a lot of bags. They were nice enough to remove the sofa chair to create more space for us.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco. It's a lovely city.

From the minute we arrived we were greeted my the young lady at the front desk, Nikki who proceeded to accommodate our requests for multiple reservations for ourselves and additional family arriving the next day. Also making arrangements for us to move downstairs to the ground floor as soon as a room became available to accommodate my husbands need to not have to climb stairs after his knee replacement surgery. She was truly a joy and very competent and an easy person to interact with.
Since our trip to SF was unexpected due to a family emergency we had to make arrangements very quickly and without notice. All the staff were genuinely friendly and very hospitable. Bruce was extremely polite, friendly and pleasant every time we interacted with him over our 4 day stay. When we would return to the hotel after our day out and about he would ask what we did that day and if we had a nice time. Thank you Bruce and Nikki you were exceptional!
The entire staff for that matter were quite pleasant and very professional and went the extra step to make our stay more pleasant even carrying our heavy bags upstairs and down for us.
We appreciate businesses and corporations in this day and age (of rudeness and no customer advocacy in general) that still pay attention to detail and care about providing great customer service. It truly made our stay that much better. Thank you for restoring our faith in a pleasant Travelodge experience.

Room Tip: King bed was nice but we had an odd shape room and the bathroom was too small. The shower door wouldn't open all the way without hitting the edge of the sink. It was located in the downstairs far west corner. It had a nice computer station but was too close to the bathroom so with 2 people trying to get ready at the same time we kept running in to one another. The upstairs room we had the 1st night was a double queen and was more room to both move around but it too had a small bathroom. They both had refrigerators which was very nice. There is an IHOP and a Mel's Diner not far down the street. Probably best to drive there because it is a few long blocks away. There is only one handicap parking spot and the parking lot fills up at night, Sometimes you have to park in the back of the building where the hotel has a few spaces reserved for Travelodge guests.

We strive every day to pay attention to detail and customer care and are pleased you have given us praise online. Thank you! We do our best to accommodate first floor requests (as we do not have an elevator) but sometimes are unable to. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we changed your room. We look forward to your next visit.

Came here based on Tripadvisor review for one day in the city proper, and glad we did.
Was lucky enough to get the last free parking spot ( a real benefit considering that downtown hotels wanted upwards of $30-$40/night ).
Room was comfortable, with free Wi-Fi. Staff helped us to evaluate how we spent the next day before heading out of the city, and to decide on a walking tour of the excellent Presidio that is just down the street (Lombard Gate). The bathroom has just a shower, and there needed to be some repairs to dings in the bathroom wall, some cleaning up of blackened caulking, etc., but it was certainly good enough for our brief time there.
The front desk staff and manager, Bruce, are this property's real assets. Everyone was both friendly, and helpful, and they allowed us to keep our luggage there a few extra hours.
We didn't use the room safe, so that charge was removed from the bill, along with the room safe tax. Not sure what the corporate philosophy is as this is the first time in a lodging that there was a surcharge for a room safe.
The free continental breakfast was simple fare, but sufficient - cold cereal, instant oatmeal, juices, coffee and muffins.
Would certainly stay here again, particularly if visiting the Presidio area.
Please advise if you find this review helpful. (www.fair.org fan)

Thank you for writing us a review. We have since dispatched maintenance to inspect all rooms for the items you mentioned which needed attention. We provide a safe in each room for guest's valuables and note this on the registration card. For privacy reasons we do not ask if guests have used the safe but are happy to remove the charge when asked. Bruce and the entire staff were pleased to see how much you enjoyed the hotel and hope to see you again soon.

This review will pretty much echo what everyone else is saying about the Presidio Travelodge. The staff are outstanding and could not be more helpful. Raymond knows the city inside out and can tell you how to get anywhere. We took public transit the entire time we were in SF and didn't have a single issue thanks to Ray and his endless knowledge.

The hotel itself is pretty basic but considering what we paid it was more than adequate. It's right next door to the Presido and within walking distance to the Palace of Fine Arts and Exploratorium. We even walked to San Francisco Bay for some great views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Also within walking distance are a ton of great shops and restaurants on Chestnut Street. I also recommend the little Italian place next door for some tasty thin crust pizza.

If you're looking for an affordable place to stay in SF, definitely consider this place. While it may not be upscale and stylish, it more than makes up for it with location, price, and especially staff. When we visit SF again, we will be returning to the Presidio Travelodge. Thanks for reading!
