There is nothing bad to say about this hotel. It's a top-tier hotel in a top-tier city. One block West of Union Square and one block North of the Theater district, you won't find a better location. From the time of arrival the staff was friendly and helpful. We had a standard room on the 12th floor. Not large but comfortable. It was well appointed and quiet-although we were occasionally aware of street noise from Post street. You might request the North or West sides if this bothers you. Our room cost was over $300/night with tax as well as another $54 plus tax for parking-more than we usually like to pay but, again...location, location, location! We did not eat at the hotel but did have drinks in the lobby bar-3 people, 1 drink each, over $40 with tip (this actually shocked me more than the hotel rate-next time BYOB!).

Room Tip: Rooms away from Post and Mason Sreets will be quieter

We stayed at the JW Marriott because we had a Court hearing early in the morning and it is a blessing to exclude traffic as a issue in the morning. Our room was very comfortable and we got the much need rest before an important day. The concierge lounge is VERY pleasant and peaceful. It was a very appreciated respite for breakfast in the morning. As others note, parking is $56.00 added to room charge. We have stayed at the downtown Marriott just a few blocks away and the JW is an upgrade. We would stay again in the future. There were no wrinkles in our stay.

Stayed at the JW for 4 nights in September and wished my vacation had lasted longer... The location is very central and convenient to all locations downtown. Service is impeccable and everything is delivered on time as promised without reminder. Parking is a bit expensive, but you can park at the garage across Mason at $27.50 per night. The trolley is also nearby and a good public transportation option. One thing to watch out for - the noise. The property is located in downtown SF and sirens from police/ambulance can ring throughout the night.

As a platinum Marriott member I'm used to the good and not so good with Marriott properties. The JW in SF is very good. At every turn the service has been outstanding. Concierge was right on point, door men knowledgable. Arrived early, immediately got into my room. Very good location.

I was traveling with a large group so I was able to see the inside of three very different rooms in this hotel. Even though ours was the most modest, it was a very nice little room. This hotel is lovely and the rooms are well decorated. Expensive, but it's San Fran!

The JW in San Francisco is all-round excellent. It's my second time there. The rooms are huge with luxurious beds for a great night's sleep. The bathrooms are large and beautiful with a separate shower, so one doesn't have to clamber into a tub. The location is perfect from my perspective. The concierge lounge is excellent and run by most pleasant attendants. I transferred over here from another Marriott, where I'd stayed a week and which was pretty good. The JW was a big quality step up and I want to stay here every time I'm in San Francisco!
