I'm a big fan of Marriott hotels, and this JW Marriott is an example of their excellence. We took advantage of the premier check-in and getting signed in and on the way to the elevator took just a few moments. The room was amazing--great views of S.F., impressively large bathroom, and so quiet we never heard a sound from the hallway or other rooms. The concierge lounge offered an array of breakfast items and we'd stop back in the afternoon for drinks and small plates. The afternoon light buffet was enough that we skipped dinner a couple nights. The location is perfect: right on Union Square within a short walk of major stores and restaurants. I've stay at other Union Square hotels and even with the most highly rated the rooms were 2/3 the size of these.

This is a very nice hotel with nice amenities. The staff were courteous and the rooms were very nice and clean. Within walking distance to Union Square shopping and excellent restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

2 nights stay after a long haul flight. Check in was quick and uneventful at 2 pm. Room on 13th floor comfortable and concierge lounge access on 21st floor was a boon (with a view) for getting a quick drink and some cookies. Internet in room was part of my package. I was able to print documents/maps/boarding pass for free at the station in the lounge. Would say this hotel is good for business travellers and seasoned folk who just want all the boxes ticked. Not exactly luxury range but I think in North America, unless you pay a few hundred dollars more a night you ain't going to get luxury. Hor d'oeuvres served in lounge at 5:30 pm were of good quality for a pre -dinner snack. No free alcohol but that wasn't a problem for us. In the evening there were some chocolate brownies/cake available till 10:30pm. Morning breakfast had some hot food items and the usual cereals and fruit. Lounge was never overly crowded whilst we were there.
Location excellent and close to Union square and cable car turnaround as well as BART access, Market Street with Westfield shopping, and Moscone centre about 15 min walk. If you get a good rate for your room I would recommend this hotel more than adequately does the job, but if you want somewhere cosy and intimate you may want to try a smaller hotel.

Room Tip: Probably the higher the better but unless you pay top dollar you'll not have too much choice or...

The lobby is on the third floor; not exactly enticing to the first time lodger. The hotel does not live up to the JW label; the rooms need a giant facelift; some are award in shape with not bathtub; others small by luxury standard. The bathrooms have been redone elegantly; the rooms could use the same. Most staff were pleasant;others less so. Arrival after 3 PM should guarantee an available room; however this was not the case. The lobby, once you get there, is attractive though the dining area does not get a lot of light. Adequate not luxurious.

Great hotel and staff. Had a corner room that was more like a suite. Nice view of city and partially of the bay. Excellent location. I have a big issue with a hotel charging $12.95 a day for internet access that at a hampton inn or residence inn you get for "free." In this day and age there is no excuse for such stupidity or the $55 a day parking (if you have a car). The hotel was close to everything: shops, trolley, subway, etc. would stay again.

Stayed here for a business trip. I typically stay in Marriott brands, and stayed at the regular Marriott in SF the last time. This is definitely nicer, but it is not a 'luxury' hotel. The rooms are a bit dated and the layout makes it such that you can hear the elevator from everywhere. The lobby is nice and the hotel staff very friendly. It is in an excellent location in the city - you can walk to many locations. Parking is overpriced.

Room Tip: If you can get a room on the conceirge floor that is best.

This hotel serves its purpose in providing a central location and a reliable, clean hotel. The concierge lounge is nice in that it's modern, has a view of SF, and provides an above average spread.

This hotel goes by the "JW" name, but aside from the modern lobby and concierge lounge, the rooms are dated and tired and really need to be upgraded to JW standards. Carpets seem worn, couches are dated and worn, and rooms feel dark. The only hint of JW that I see in the rooms are the oversized bathrooms.

To give you some perspective, I have stayed at this hotel when it used to be the Pan Pacific hotel, over 10 yrs ago, and the rooms today feel the same as they did a decade ago.

If this hotel charges JW prices, then I would like to see the rooms are of JW standards. Thank you.
