A real little gem of a hotel in downtown SFO…..an excellent location for getting around the city. Every member of the team there made us very welcome. Right from the moment you walk through the door and meet Anne to check in you are treated like a family member. Wayne in particular was a real goldmine of information and a pleasure to talk to. We had a great, spacious room, enjoyed the wine and cheese in the evening and felt right at home. We will definitely return and stay at the Inn again on our next visit!

We had pleasure of staying here for few days over Christmas. Charming small hotel that has very European feel. If you want to be centrally located in San Francisco this is perfect location.

Staff very friendly, courteous, helpful and professional. Yummy continental breakfast served each morning. Perfect way to start the day. In the evening, wine, cheese & knoshies to set you on your way before dinner.

I am clean freak and this inn did not disappoint. Spotless! Thank you to the maid service. The room was good size with everything you could want including fluffy robes. I was thrilled with how quiet it was. Window looked out onto tiny space between buildings and it was nice buffer for traffic.

We got a valet park package so we dumped off the car and hoofed it around city. If you don't need to drive, don't bother. I recommend this inn more for adults or families with older kids.

If you want food, Morton's Steak House next door supplies a limited menu.

We would definitely stay here again. Just so charming, clean, quiet and top-notch.

Friendly and attentive staff, great breakfast, wonderful location. The rooms are a bit dated and the bathrooms are small. However the rooms were very clean and quiet with indeed no traffic noise at all.

We stayed only one night at this inn and found it to be very convenient, quiet and friendly - pretty much as previously reviewed. We especially liked the valet service as it was reasonably priced (for San Francisco) and saved us a big headache in parking. The breakfast service was a little difficult as it was 2 floors down from our room and very small (only one table to share). We ended up taking our food up to the lounge area on our floor which worked out okay but took some time as there is only one small elevator. I imagine during the busy season that the breakfast would be offered on all floors. We would also like to see an improvement in the food offered for breakfast. Tastier cereal, such as granola, and more fresh fruit - we only had bananas. But overall a very nice place to stay.

We stayed in the Inn at Union square once before, 3 years ago, and were happy to come back. I can only reiterate what I said then and what other people have said - it is so central and yet so quiet - our room at the back (207) had no traffic noise at all. The wine and nibbles at aperitif time are a very nice touch, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Not only is the hotel half a block from Union square, but that means it's excellently placed for all sorts of transport - cable cars of course, but also buses along Geary/O'Farrell, or a few blocks down to the metro/BART at Powell St. If you're staying for any length of time at all and traveling about the city, I recommend buying a "Visitor Passport" which covers all MUNI transport (including cable cars). There are 1-day, 3-day and 7-day versions. We got a 7-day for $29. Since every cable car ride costs $6, it's worth it in no time at all!

Room Tip: Junior King Suite at the back was exceptionally quiet.

A 4-day get-away to San Francisco over the Christmas holiday was perfect at this charming and comfortable Inn. After doing the research and reading the reviews, we were not disappointed with any element of our stay here. Centrally located near Union Square, I expected the noise to travel a bit, however our room was quiet and relaxing with no noise from the outside or neighboring rooms. No kids running thru the halls either!

The establishment and rooms were small, and had a slight European feel to it, but it wasn't crowded and the rooms felt perfectly sized for two adults. Since it was an older building, we expected it not to be overly spacious, and were pleased that it didn't feel dated or run down -- they take very good care of it and have updated it nicely. Common areas on each floor for evening cookies or morning breakfast were nice too -- gave a more homey feel than a larger resort with 1 huge dining area.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Friendly staff and perfect location!

Room Tip: Don't be disappointed if you get a room without any views -- we didn't have a view on 4th fl...

My husband and I like to stay in San Fransisco for Christmas Eve and was lucky enough to find the inn at Union Square. I cannot say anything bad about this place, the service when we checked in was fantastic and super friendly. The location is excellent and a perfect place to stay if your wanting to move about the city with ease. The cable cars are located across the street, restaurants of all types of food are within walking distance and of course shopping a Union Square. As much as I saved in lodging I was able to make up in spending at the stores. I will go back and stay there. Its pretty hidden.

Room Tip: we stayed in 601 top floor and I sat for hours on the fire escape looking out at the busy city
