“Great hotel and close to Pier 39”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

This is a lovely and fancy hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. If you can get it at a good price (booking.com or expedia.com), it's absolutely worth it. Pier 39 is a couple of blocks away. The staff are very friendly and check in is very easy. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: It's quite a big hotel but even if you get a far room, there is still an exit that is close by.

The hotel is sort of dated, but the room was big and the bed was comfortable. This is an EXCELLENT location for Pier 39 and Fisherman's wharf. The staff was nice. The parking was expensive and I think should be included. The room was 160, the parking 50 - ridiculous. The shower was great. The floors in the bathroom are pretty dirty if you have to get on the floor to look for an earring!

I booked this hotel for a family trip, 7 nights. My back was KILLING me by the 2nd night. I chose it because of the reputation of Sheraton's beds. After staying in the Scottsdale Sheraton & absolutely loving the bed, I was seriously disappointed at the awful beds at this location. I complained, they pretended not to know they were bad. No way they don't know! Breakfast buffet awful & triple price of IHOP which would have been an improvement. Room service trays sat in the hallways all day. Staff unseen except 1-2 desk clerks, who were not friendly, other than "drivers license and credit card please" not a word was spoken at check-in; nothing! The rooms are small for a family, there isn't a mini-fridge or anywhere to have a snack or enjoy room service. 2 beds, 2 chairs thats it.
The pool was decent though they lock up early, & the gas fire pits are nice. Too many hotels to try this one again.

Room Tip: Try asking for a room known to have a new or comfortable bed. Good luck.

This hotel was a good standard hotel, well positioned for all the touristy bits. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast - as has been mentioned previously - is hideously expensive, but there are plenty of alternative options in the area.

Tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms and we got a gift of a bottle of wine since we were on honeymoon :)

The outside firepits were lovely to sit and relax around - got talking to people from all over out there and the free wi-fi in the lobby was appreciated.

Ok, we stayed on a Priceline ($105/night) rate so it was a good "deal" I suppose. Firepits outside lobby are a great hang out area. Lobby is very welcoming with a bar/coffee shop, free wi-fi, and tons of tables/chairs. Many people hung out there. The rooms were marginal. First night we had the last room, at end of hallway, by the street. It was extremely noisy. However, at our request they moved us the next day. Kyle took care of it quickly and arranged for the bellmen to move our stuff while we are out for the day. The gym was very small. Only 7 cardio machines and a few hand weights. Two of the machines were broken. There was constantly a wait for machines. They need t fix the gym up and add a couple of bikes at least in my opinion. The firepits, outside, were very nice. People hung out day and night there. The location is nice, if you like Fisherman's Wharf. I am not a big fan but my wife is so... there you go. In this area I think the Hyatt is much nicer and is the only legit 4 star in my opinion. Oh ya, the bed was awesome I should say. Very firm and nice!

Room Tip: Interior room away from street is mandatory!

Dear DodgerJohn, thanks so much for taking the time to review our hotel and for your kind comments on our fire pits, staff responsiveness and comfy Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed concept. I do apologize you encountered two cardio machines out of order during your stay in our fitness center. The company that services these units were unresponsive over the holiday weekend, however they have since been repaired. Your room tip to ask for an interior room is ideal for light sleepers. Thanks so much for the visit and I hope you and your wife had a great holiday weekend. Take care and warm regards,

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in December. The location for Fisherman's Wharf is great if all you need is to be near Pier 39. The service is very impersonal and was as cold as the San Fransiscan weather. We arrived late after a delayed flight from Fort Lauderdale and found there was nobody in the hotel to meet us at all and the hotel was deserted - after 20 minutes someone wandered in from the back office and checked us in. The room for a family of four was small and basic and the public rooms were cold and hard to navigate. Costs for food, parking and Internet were excessive - we were charged$51 to leave our car for 12 hours. We found it amusing that they charge for wifi in the rooms but offer it free in their lobby and not surprisingly this was packed with guests. Overall we didn't enjoy our stay and this was the low point of our trip.

Dear Paul1603, many thanks for the review and the 4-star rating on our hotel cleanliness and location. I was pleased to hear you enjoyed our proximity to nearby attractions such as Pier 39 and do apologize you found the service to be less than ideal. I will definitely followup with our staff as that is out of the norm for our team who typically receive top marks for service and staff friendliness. Thank you for the feedback as this helps us refine our services going forward. I hope you had a safe trip back and hope you can return soon. Take care and warm regards,

Used Priceline's "name your price" for first time, seeking other two "higher rated" hotels for Fisherman's Wharf, Hyatt or Argonaut and ended up with this Sheraton. Hesitant at first for this older property, yet in the end, for the price, it was a nice change of place. Priceline's star rating for this property questionable/borderline, but maybe supported by Starwoods brand name and generally attentive friendly staff.

Enjoyed:
- top floor quiter inside view rooms. SF outside rooms in most hotels can get quite noisey.
- Heavenly beds
- "remodeled" rooms
- Fire pits
- close to local supermarket and small local joints for quick bite to eat or coffee
- Accommodating front staff
- short run to Hoppers hands at the fort via waterfront walkways...about 3 mile.

Tips:
- If renting from Dollar as we did for day or two, clarify parking partnership/relationship/ticket steps with hotel and attendants otherwise checkout credit shuffle as we ended up with.
- cab traffic hit and miss on this Wharf "edge" location
- a.m. front counter suggested towncar service to airport rate reasonable compared to cab fare.
- p.m. weekend bellman "negotiated" town car service rate to short distance restaurant laughable, glad we had local with us who pointed out the difference. kick back?
- thin room walls, kids next door...thank goodness they tuckered out early.

Room Tip: suggest request inside, top floor rooms. Enjoy views while out and about, sleep better while in.
