Our kids desperately wanted to swim in their pool, but we got varying stories why it would never open.

Free wifi and free parking in San Fran, coupled with being in a marvelous area right next to the Pacific. Dated furnishings and so forth, but that's not why you're checking this one out...an absolute refreshing experience by offering free parking in an awesome neighborhood. We'll be back, but straighten out your pool situation or remove it from your web site please. It's deserving of most bang for your buck.

Room Tip: Top floor offers some views of the Pacific, and you don't hear your neighbors walking around abo...

In an expensive city to stay during any season, Seal Rock Inn is still the best "bang for your buck" The rooms are spacious and always clean, and the parking is available for free. It's also within walking distance of the Ocean and Golden Gate Park. Very quiet part of the city and their restaurant has great breakfasts and lunches. Good food at great affordable prices. Yes, this is an older mote/hotel established in 1959, but are you going to be staying in your room 24/7 or are you going to be out touring? Close to the bus lines too if you don't want to use a car.

Room Tip: try getting an upper room for a better view of the Ocean

My husband and I wanted to book a room for one night, the hotel WILL not make any exception to there minimum 2 night stay. First time we called, the person at the desk said to call in the morning to see if they would except our one night stay. So we called in the morning,it is no surprise that the person who took our call was extremely snotty, and wouldn't even give us the time of day. The person actually just hung up on us. I would expect this staying at a $700 night hotel, but this is out of hand.

Been going here for years---Why?
1, Free parking- yes free parking in San Francisco. Never a problem or theft for me- great neighborhood.
2. Clean always- steady improvements, not allowed to run down. New windows do a good job of cutting road/bus noise.
3. A pool- yes a pool in San Francisco- what a rarity!
4. Near Cliff house, Sutro Baths, Legion of honor, Golden Gate park, Lands End, and Clement shopping district.
5. Fast and easy transportation. Grab a bus map from them. You can get downtown without a change and Fisherman's Wharf or North Beach on one transfer. You must- listen up- must take the 38 Geary Point Lobos 48th avenue to get back- otherwise you in for a walk to get to the motel.
6. Lands End trails are right there for some of the best views of the mouth of the bay. Great walks- look of the WW-2 machine gun nests still hidden away.
7. And there is Seth in the lobby- who has changed finally from a Dodgers hat to a A's hat. Ask him when he is going to change to a Giants hat for a reaction.
8. There is a good enough breakfast and lunch place in the motel.
9. Most rooms have Ocean views.
10. Many rooms have fireplace.

You cannot beat what you get for the price- and not located in a tourist trap but a real San Francisco Neighborhood. Take the bus down to about 3rd avenue and walk over to Clement street for a interesting collection of shops and super restaurants until you get to Park-Presidio. Gives you a feel of hometown San Francisco.

We recently stayed with our son and other families at the Seal Rock Inn for a sports tournament. While it's not a 5-star hotel, it did the job for us. With uniquely arranged rooms, you can comfortably have 2 adults and 2 children sleep in a room. There is a folding partition to give the adults some semblance of privacy. A center courtyard offers ping pong and badminton. Most rooms have views of "Land's End" and Ocean Beach beach. Just a short walk from the hotel are the interesting Sutro Bath ruins. Also nearby is Lincoln Park and the Legion of Honor Museum. A nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's also right on a bus line so most everything is just a 1/2 hour bus ride away. You can't beat the price, $165/nite on a holiday weekend is a steal for San Francisco! Great family hotel!

I've stayed here dozens of times- the rooms are clean and comfy- nice setting- safe neighborhood- and FREE PARKING in SF! Be sure and ask for the corner room on 2nd or 3rd floor for the best ocean views!

Restaurant downstairs is good- large portions

The hotel is a good option for value-minded travelers. However, there is no night manager, so if something goes wrong (like an extremely loud TV next door, as happened with my brother), you are out of luck. If you call the desk you are instructed to call 911 if it's an emergency.

The coffee shop has hearty egg breakfasts, but the coffee is horrible. For a good coffee and pastry, walk to the nearby visitors center.
