“Fantastic location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014

This is a great hotel for the location. Just blocks from the touristy areas but most importantly just blocks from Columbus with its streets lined with amazing Italian restaurants (plus a great Burger place called BurgerMeister) and then onto Chinatown. Calzones was our favourite Italian restaurant on Columbus.
Lovely Italian cafes just 1 block away for breakfast too.
Showers and toilets all extremely clean, and the rooms were spotless too. Wasn't an issue at all.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to try something a bit different.

Room Tip: 33 was right next to the bathroom on first floor - so you do hear the toilets flushing/showers going...

My teen son and I were in town for conference. Stayed one nite and was perfect. Sort of like hostel but with private room. Small rooms, no Tv, but son happily used his Ipad with their wifi. I tried the shower-very clean, great hot water and heat lamp and I was very happy. The building and hallway areas are charming. We had twin beds with sink in room and that was nice in a.m. Had a quiet nite. We had a window to outside for fresh air. Really close to Fishermans Wharf and parking very reasonable. Can't recommend restaurant downstairs- terrible service - but enjoyed the hotel.

Thank you so much for your comments. We provide our guests with a comfortable yet affordable place to stay in the City, in a magnificent location. We are so glad you enjoyed your time in San Francisco and your stay at our historic hotel and try to keep it authentic.

The free coffee, lemon water and internet are a few of the new things we give our guests for a more comfortable stay.

It will be our pleasure to serve you again in the future.

Stayed four days. Perfect location a couple of blocks from Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf, half a block from Safeway supermarket. Staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Happy to have a chat and assist with any problems/ questions. Cute hotel in restored original condition. Owners very low key and willing to help as well. Would recommend to single travellers or couples who travel light, as some rooms don't have a lot of spare space. Serviced daily. Tea and coffee station available until 9pm and includes biscuits, twizzlers and other confec. Recommend bar and restaurant attached to hotel for quiet drink/ Italian meals. Wonderful atmosphere throughout the entire building.

Room Tip: Opt for a room with external window.

I was so enchanted by San Remo! I had a 24 hour layover in San Francisco and had never been there before. I found this hotel online and it's location and price were perfect. The staff were super helpful and kind. The receptionist saved me $50 in cab fare with helpful hints. The bathroom situation was a little foreign to me, but ended up being completely fine. I had dinner in the restaurant that night and was blessed with an excellent live band. I loved the history and would choose this over a "normal hotel" any day!

This hotel a great place to stay, let me start by saying that Jessie at the front desk was great. He was helpful months ago before when we were trying to decide on a hotel to stay in San Francisco. It was quaint and it felt like a home away from home type of hotel. Great location and responsibly with priced. They had free coffee and muffins in the morning and they held my luggage until I had to leave for the airport. Again, it all starts with the front desk Jessie he was really nice and helpful. I would stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone that's going to visit San Francisco.

Not your everyday hotel experience. Friendly, helpful staff turn an ordinary stay into something charming and special. Short on fancy amenities, but long on value and location, everything is within a short walk - restaurants, shopping, markets (including a Trader Joe's), cable cars, muni bus, and a slightly longer walk to Fisherman's Wharf. If you're a pampered traveller, this isn't the place for you, but if you're adaptable and friendly, this is a delightful experience. Shared bathroom facilities are immaculately clean. Nice family neighborhood, felt very safe and secure. Coffee, tea and several warm beverage mixes in the lobby during business hours, as well as ice water. Free Wi-Fi helps make up for the lack of tv in the rooms, and who uses an in-room phone these days? We'll be back!

Room Tip: Some rooms have an in-room sink that's a nice perk, but it's really not essential. Rooms ove...

This hotel is unique. Bags of character, great location, cosy feel. In fact a home from home in one of the greatest cities in the world. The other major consideration - budget. This has it all, plus free tea and coffee, and muffins in the morning. Tram is a short walk as are some great bars and restaurants, including the Italian one down below the hotel. I recommend this hotel unreservedly, and will not hesitate to book it up again on my next trip to SF.
