I've been to several hotels with shared bathrooms in NYC and Australia and I must say this is the best ever! Rooms are a little bit too small but the bathrooms are fantastic! Very very clean, and they tidy the room every day, never happened in the others hotels like this! Great location, in really 5 mins you are at the Fishermans Wharf and in about 40 mins Union Square! Great! Best way to same money to use for something else!

Good price, great location. Hotel staff was low-key and never intrusive (which we liked)! I was very impressed with their excellent, hard-working cleaning staff. They kept the hotel very clean and tidy. The artwork and posters throughout the hotel were very reflective of San Francisco culture and history, I was especially captivated by the huge picture of the fishermen right outside of the laundry room. Of our four nights there, only one was noisy, so the earplugs that the hotel provided came in handy. This hotel is really one-of-a-kind, and we had an enjoyable stay. If you want (or need) a nice break from corporate-type lodging, the San Remo is a really wonderful place to stay. I would go back in a heartbeat...

San Remo Hotel is a very cozy hotel. The rooms are small, clean and tastefully furnished in the Victorian style. You feel at home at once. The staff are very friendly and helpful. In the reception area you can have something to drink, coffee, tea or just water, or you can use the computer. There are also massage chairs and wifi free to use for the guests. If you get hungry, just go down the stairs and you'll find USAs oldest Italian restaurant, and very good food. Just a few blocks away you have Fishermans Wharf, Pir 39 and the cable car.

Overall this was a great experience. If I ever come back to San Francisco, I will definitely stay at San Remo. There are no other hotel like San Remo

The hotel is in a great location. Just a few blocks fr the Wharf & Pier 39, an easy walk. There r 2 grocery stores, a Walgreens, fast food & restaurants near by. It's also within walking distance to the cable cars. The hotel is unique, very cute & clean! The rooms r small, but that wasn't a problem since we aren't in it much. I would request a room w a sink & windows facing the outside, not the hallway. There r 2 restrooms & 4 showers/tubs on each floor. They were always spotless! We never had to wait to use the restroom or shower. I loved the pull chain toilets & claw foot tubs. The towels r on a heated towel rack. The staff r very friendly & accommodating. We had a room w 2 beds for $65 night. I highly recommend this hotel! I was hesitant about not having a toilet & shower in my room, but it really was never an issue. I will def stay there again if I go back.

I first stayed in the 70's when I could get a room for 175/week. I always come back. Views, people, ocean. City Lights Bookstore. Did I mention food? The restaurant downstairs, Pat's Cafe (where we were given complimentary mimosa's on our last morning) Long walks with a return to the penthouse ( truly a jewel and balm to this soul ) The staff is universally helpful. I highly encourage anyone to make this gem their home while visiting San Francisco.

My daughter and I were on a road trip to California and had 2 nights booked at the San Remo Hotel in San Francisco. We got into town late and took a wrong turn and were lost in the city. We called the hotel and they directed us in and stayed past closing time so we could get checked in - thank you San Remo staff!! The hotel itself is in a perfect location to walk around the city - just 3 blocks from Pier 39 and many of the popular tourist sights. It is a beautifully maintained building staying true to 1906 styles of decor. The atmosphere of the hotel is very friendly, almost like a boarding house where everyone is considerate of each other - washrooms and showers are shared. There are massage chairs to relax in after a long day walking the city and free guest wifi. Overall, was a great experience - would definitely return and highly recommend the San Remo.
