“Good location, nothing fancy but serves its purpose.”
Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

Great location, close to a lot of places, but nothing exciting in the hotel. Besides "The View", it was just another hotel. Too expensive for what they end up offering. Friendly staff. Did not eat there so I can't comment on the food.

Everyone from the front desk folks, to housekeeping, to security, were some of the most friendliest and outgoing people I've have ever encountered at a hotel. They all went out of their way to make sure I was happy and content.

Excellent location for shopping and sightseeing, with all the usual amenities of a Marriott hotel. Spacious room, comfortable bedding, cordial service. But whoever designed the bathrooms here missed the boat: the counterspace is inadequate, and there was no other mirror in the unit for another person to use while the bathroom is occupied. Further, the shower heads were set at a non-adjustable, uncomfortable spray. Too bad; the visit would have been perfect otherwise.

This was a nice hotel in a great location with very friendly front desk, parking and room service staff. Excellent for business. I was upgraded to a suite upon check-in. Unfortunately, there must have been construction ongoing because I was awakened every morning at 7 am by loud banging. I was in the low rise tower on the 6th floor. The parking was also very expensive at 62+ dollars per night and the hotel's preauthorizations remained on my credit card for nearly a week, despite paying the final hotel bill. When I called the hotel to resolve this issue, I spent a seemingly endless amount of time on the phone on hold. Once I got a hold of a live person, they stated they could not remove the authorizations and that it would take 10-14 days! I will stay elsewhere next time I am in San Francisco.

Dear FrankChaps,

Please accept my apologies the construction noise during your recent stay. We have just completed renovating all of our rooms and although we tried to take great care in minimizing the level of noise during our renovations we missed that mark during your stay.

We also work very closely with the various credit card companies to minimize the length of time pre-authorizations are held and would also like to apologize for this delay.

Once again, I sincerely apologize for the difficulties during your stay and hope we can regain your trust.

Stayed here for a professional conference which was right down the street from the Moscone Center. Lots of restaurants in the area.

Pros: Bed was comfy. Super nice, updated and clean room. Friendly and efficient staff. I arrived early and got my room right away and was able to check out a little late with a quick phone call the night before.

Cons: Ridiculously high priced restaurant for breakfast and parking is crazy expensive!

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. It is across from the Moscone Center, 1 block from Union Square and the Westfield Shopping Center. Best of all, there is a Target on the corner so whatever you've forgotten - you can pick up there. Go there and stock up on water & snacks instead of using the mini-bar. You can also walk to AT&T park (about 10 blocks but easy walk).

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The concierge desk is knowledgeable and have an endless supply of maps and suggestions. There is a starbucks on-site. There is a restaurant that serves breakfast only and then a second restaurant on site that serves lunch and dinner. The food and cocktails are good but overpriced. There is food court just past the Target that offers salads, soups, asian food, tri-tip at Buckhorn. Annabelle's is across the street and there is a Dennys and Mels Diner on the opposite side. There is a mexican restaurant just outside the back doors. I suggest eating anywhere else because the food is just not worth the price. Cocktails are on average $14. Breakfast buffet at the Marriott is $30. I suggest walking about 6 blocks to Sears Fine Foods for bfast/lunch/dinner - worth the walk & the wait.

We had a Standard Queen room - average size, very clean. Bed was comfortable - down pillows and down comforter provided. Disappointed that there is no free wi-fi in the rooms. You must go to the first floor or second floor mezzanine to use free wi-fi. The worst thing about the room is the closet. It is between the bathroom and bedroom area and there is no light. You will need a flashlight to access the safe or find anything in the closet. Room includes flat screen TV, minibar, coffee maker, iron, hairdryer. I didn't visit the gym or pool but they have them. There is also a spa onsite. The rooftop bar offers a nice view of the city and opens at 4pm. Go next door to the movie theater - there is a rooftop view there and you won't have to pay $15 to enjoy it (price of a drink). It is not the 39th floor view but it will do.

The hotel is expensive for the basic amenities but staying in SF is never cheap. I'd say the price is worth it for the location and service provided.

Room Tip: We stayed on the "church" side of the building - bells ring at 8:00. Avoid this side if y...

The Marriot Marquis in San Francisco, is similar that in NY. It´s a huge property located in the center of the city. Only a block from a big Shopping, and near from brands like adidas, abercrombie, H&m, Forever and others. From the Fisherman Whraf´s its about ten blocks. There´s a restaurant on the top floor with nice views of the city.
