“Bedding/mattress were stained and dirty! Staff rude!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

Don't stay here! We payed over $700 to stay for 2 nights in a room with a city view. When we arrived the woman who checked us in was very disrespectful and demeaning towards my mother and I. When we arrived in our room we found that our bedding had spots and hair on it. When we pulled the bedding back and looked further, we were even more horrified! There were spots/stains and hair all over the mattress and mattress cover! The shower also had mold all over it! The room was disgusting!!! We promptly called the front desk and asked to be moved to a new room. We had to sacrifice our view for an "upgraded" room. The second room was cleaner than the first at least. I took pictures of the first room and shared them with the manager. The hotel's way of "taking care of us" was giving us some extra Marriott rewards points and having the housekeeping department leave us a message to apologize. In my opinion they should have never even placed guests in a room in that condition. Do not stay here! Definitely not worth the price! And if you do stay, check your beds!

I have stayed in loads of different hotels in the SFO area, and this hotel is very good. Better than many others. Despite its size, it really is huge, check in was very efficient, the staff friendly without being over the top, elevators swift, and then you arrive at your floor and find its like a rabbit warren. Not in the sense of size, there are just loads of corridors to negotiate, so read the directions carefully. Room size is perfect, dull decor but comfortable. Bathroom immaculate and it all works perfectly. Fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner and that's pretty much it. Perhaps some more goodies there would be a nice addition. Shower great.

Fitness centre nicely equipped, pleasant staff again, not busy and it all works. Bar wise there is a spectacular bar on the top floor with terrific views over SFO. Restaurants on two floors. Eating wise the hotel is well placed , there is a pleasant bar opposite called Annabelles, food good, reasonable etc., and a nice diner on the corner of Mission and 4th.

Getting here from the airport, talk to the hotel as there is a bus service 7 usd I think, and up until around seven pm this goes both ways every fifteen mins or so, after that on request, but do check with the hotel.
In the huge foyer there is a Starbucks which opens extremely early, also shuts a bit early too, but there's another around the corner.

If you drive here, there is parking, but be warned it is eye wateringly expensive, around sixty usd per night, thirty if you go across the road which is not exactly cheap either! However, on a plus side there is a Hertz in the foyer so it may be cheaper to rent daily through them, or perhaps they have a parking arrangement.

Well situated, just a couple of minutes stroll to the square with all the major retailers Macy's, Levi's etc.
Quick thought, due to the complexity of the layout of the floors, do check where your nearest and second nearest emergency exit is, it would be very easy to become disorientated in a serious situation.
So an excellent hotel in all areas, and you can open the windows!!

Room Tip: On the east rooms you may be startled awake by what appears to be a church bell! It is very loud!

Had a conference at the convention center which was about one block from this hotel. Perfect location. It's a large hotel with plenty of amenities. Several good restaurants and the location is in the heart of shopping and dining areas. Nighttime is a bit seedy in this area with tons of homeless and a few prostitutes walking around outside the hotel, but the area is busy and very well lit so you don't feel afraid. The rooms are fine. Full service hotel with plenty of meeting rooms and two business centers, including a fed ex. Staff was very nice and attentive. Overall for this business trip it was the best place I've stayed in this area of San Fran.

We booked two rooms for our family trip to SF and initially we chose the other Marriott near Union Square, but I changed to this because they guaranteed double beds for our boys. I was right!!! The best location in SF, close to museums, Union Square, the financial district, the Embarcadero and the best shopping/ restaurants area within walking distance.
Rooms were on the big side (kids was a double/double corner room with wonderful views, ours was a king with a beautiful view East) noteworthy: they are starting room renovations (ours were not renovated), but they looked well maintained. The concierge service was helpful and friendly and the lobby staff were very polite. There is a Starbucks in the lobby (love it!!!) In summary, a very nice stay in a wonderful city.
Only con: Wifi was 14$/day, but free in the lobby. Anyway we were on vacation, and would not bother for business matters, but if it was a business trip,I would think of this as a minus.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel in December. It has the best location, walking distance to everything! The mall, restaurants, movie theatres, church and other sites. The bell desk and Front Desk staff were very helpful! If you don't want to pay for the on-site parking, you can park across the street for half the price. It was a lovely stay and we will stay at this hotel again every time we're in San Francisco. The swimming pool was a great plus since most hotels in San Francisco don't have one.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are more roomy. We were on the 38th floor so we have the best view!

This is the best hotel to stay in The City. It's right off the Muni so easy access to get back to the airport after your stay. Great location too as the Powell cable car is within walking distance to take you across town. My family and I always get rooms here when we go visit my brother. We love meeting in the wonderful rooftop lounge with beautiful city views for before dinner cocktails and appetizers before his jazz shows at Martunies bar (another great venue) down the street. Clean rooms, great lounges/restaurants and valet parking. Oh and for those who like Starbucks there is one in the lobby.
Expensive but worth every penny!

I just got back from this hotel a couple days ago! I just went for the weekend and it was an amazing location! Right by all the high end shopping - taxi ride to the wharf around $10.

I could tell it is highly used for business travelers and you can see the wear. However, I still thought it was clean and I found the staff to be very helpful!

Didn't try any food but did have a drink at the bar on the top floor. Great place to have a drink to kick off your night! Although a Cosmo is $20. I haven't even seen a $20 Cosmo in New York City.

Decent breakfast in the lounge. Always restocked and service in the concierge lounge was the best!

Great location. Could use some updating. But overall I was extremely pleased with my stay!
