Excellent Hotel with Free Parking

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 3, 2019
For such a good location with free parking, this hotel is very affordable in San Francisco, a city which is generally on the expensive side. The rooms and attached bathrooms are spacious. The breakfast with Starbucks Coffee is another attraction. Highly recommend. Would stay here when ever in San Francisco.
Date of stay: June 2019
Room Tip: The rooms in the back side are away from the street and quieter.

We stayed here for three nights for the San Francisco leg of our road trip. When we checked in she mentioned we had a nice room (112) as we were staying for three nights. It was huge - though this is standard in the US. Yes it was decorated in a dated style and it was reminiscent of an 80’s TV set but ... it was clean and fresh and the towels were good quality. There is free coffee on tap downstairs which was good coffee and pastries for breakfast that you collect every day. The location is fabulous. Polk Street is nearby and there are lots of great eateries. We ate at Thai Spice and it was very good. Another tip - we went in late afternoon to the little deli on the corner and they were selling their cakes off at half price - superb muffins.

Do watch the parking as you can get blocked in but ask reception and they will ask the person to move their car. A tip would be to park on the right hand side of the car park as people tended to double park on the left as they came in.

All in all it was a comfortable and pleasant stay in what can be a very expensive City.

Worst place I've ever stayed. I needed a place with an elevator as I had a heavy suitcase and other things and would find it difficult to carry everything up stairs. When I arrived the elevator was broken and I asked what I was to do the receptionist shrugged his shoulders, like 'your problem lady, not ours.' Also, after a day in SF I wanted to just kick back and enjoy TV since I don't get many channels where I live. The TV was not working and they didn't get it working until the day I left. The manager, Marco, did a good job of avoiding me and was always either not in or in a meeting, which I knew was not true. I would never stay there again as there is no hospitality nor much help from the staff with the exception of Cameron who was very accommodating. I paid not only for the room but the amenities that came with it, namely the use of their elevator and a working TV. They did not and will not issue me a small compensation for not fulfilling their part of the contract. Also, they typically have more cars from guests than parking spaces so people park in back of your car in the stall. Luckily I didn't need to use my car while I was there but it could be a big problem.

Nob Hill Motor Inn has free parking in their inner court. Which is great but the inner court can be quite noisy. Voices seemed to carry and can be heard in the rooms.
I believe they have rooms which face the street, so that may, or may not be a quieter option.
We even heard power tools well after 10pm.

The staff was friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is croissants, donuts, coffee, and supposedly orange juice but never saw any.

It's an adaquate motel.

Room tip: We found the inner-court room to be noisy. A room with a street view may be quieter.

Our family stayed here for two nights during our California road trip. Was it a great location, yes. Would we stay here again, probably not! The cons by far outweigh the pros...

Cons -
Roaches
Bathroom door lock installed incorrectly
Tub hot/cold knob installed upside down
OLD poorly installed and DIRTY carpets
Loud/creaky floors
Trash under the nightstand and microwave
Ketchup (at least I hope it’s ketchup) on the headboard
Humid/moist room
Several missing lightbulbs and broken light fixtures
Precariously hung tv
EXTREMELY tight parking spaces (although free and convenient, don’t plan on parking a large vehicle in there or being able to open your doors when next to someone)

Pros-
Convenient location to Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, Lombard Street, Pier 39
Nice sized room
Comfortable beds
Great water pressure
Friendly staff
Nice sized refrigerator
Breakfast was limited, but tasty

My husband and I stayed one night at Nob Hill Motor inn. Overall it was a nice for a short visit.

Pros: Clean rooms, conveniently located, budget hotel with friendly employees and free parking!

Cons: Half of the lights didn't work until we notice a plug coming up from the carpet. We plug it in and the rest of the lights/alarm clock turned on. Also when I was using the blow dryer it blew a fuse. My husband went down to the front desk and it was fixed within 3 minutes.
