Comfortable and chic, but on the edge of the Tenderloin

Review of Hotel Abri
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 15, 2017
Everything at Hotel Abri was just right--other than the location. As a solo female business traveler, I felt unsafe outside the hotel at night and just a few blocks away the neighborhood was totally unsavory.
Date of stay: November 2017
Room Tip: Street noise considerable--not traffic but voices at 3am yelling obscenities, three nights in a row.

Nice hotel, clean and comfy room if a little on the small side. All the expected amenities. The hotel is very convenient for the shopping area and a hidden gem. We received a very nice welcome pack of wine, water and snacks.

In the hearth of downtown, in Union Square, minutes from the big name shops, the tram turnaround and all the other big name hotels. The rooms are small but well furnished and organized hence they still feel comfortable and since you are not in SF to spend time in your room...it's perfect. The only thing for us was a musty smell in the room but after a minute you don't notice it anymore.

This hotel is conveniently located. Walking distance to many good restaurants and shops. It is a small boutique style restaurant with the basics. Room is clean. I think for the price and location, it is a good place to stay. They give you a small bag of grab and go breakfast, that has a drink, a piece of fruit, a small packet of nut mix and a pastry. Comes in handy when you have no time for a sit down breakfast. Its on a very busy street, and if you are driving there, the hotel staff will park the car for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and the staff went above and beyond. My friends who visited kept complimenting the room and even though I was street side, the noise was not bad at all. It’s in the heart of union square so I could walk anywhere and feel safe as a 24 year old female whose first time in the city was this trip. Thank you for being a huge part of such a memorable vacation!

The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, and you're in the heart of the city, which means you can walk to just about anything and that's great to have. Unfortunately there hasn't been a lot of work done to abate the noise from the city streets and the trucks working on the street in the middle of the night will wake you up over and over.
