Tiny rooms. Staff were rude.

Review of Hotel Abri

Rooms were very small. Most staff were rude and condescending, some were okay. Location was good for shopping but you are approached by homeless (most times pretty confronting) each time you enter and exit the hotel.

Really happy we stayed here - i've got only good things to say. Clean, large rooms, very friendly helpful staff, good location and not too expensive. We ate across the road at Kin Khao too and the food was absolutely delicious. I'll be back for sure.

Very good value in SF. Comfortable, Convenient location, nice courtesy from staff. We opted for small room and it proved to be quite comfortable, especially with unusual 100+ weather. Only note of caution is the parking had us down the street for more than anyone wishes to pay for parking.

Nice hotel near shopping and trolley stop.
This was our fist time traveling to San Francisco, and we had a little trouble finding the hotel. But I think that was our fault. The hotel is just over a block away from the Bart station and from the lower end of the trolley. We walked past the street the hotel is on as it was not marked well.
The hotel looks like is was recently renovated.
The hotel staff is friendly an helpful.
When we got to our room, the bathroom was quite small and did not look anything like what is shown on the website. We called down to the front desk and they offered for us to look at another room. We did, and that room looked like what was on the website and the hotel gracefully changed our room.
That room has a spacious bathroom and nice size bedroom with a king size bed. Our only complaint about the bathroom is there was NO water pressure in the shower. My guess is no flow shower head to conserve water.
The hotel is clean and the maid service was good.
The hotel provided a couple of bottles of water and a bottle of wine in a nice travel bag. The water was great as the city was in a rare heat wave. The room has an air conditioner and was comfortable.
We had a very unusual problem with the drawers not staying shut. Maybe something to do with the recent renovation. We did not report it right away, but repair staff showed up to fix the issue as we were leaving.
The views from the hotel are not the reason to go to this hotel. Either of a wall, or of the building across from the hotel.
The next block from the hotel has some renovations going on, and is not very active. There is quite a bit of homeless/street people. My guess is this will change as the renovations are completed.
This hotel is near to shopping, the transportation and the trolley.

We would stay there again.

Hello saklad_r, thank you for givng us a 4 star rating despite the few challenges you experienced during your stay. I am happy to know that staff was able to take care of you as soon as you informed them about the room/bathroom size. And yes, you are correct, we have low flow showers due to being a green hotel. Thank you for being understanding. We hope to see you again in the near future. Stay vibrant!

Hotel Abri is charming and sparkling. I enjoyed the comfortable bed, well stocked bathroom, great location, and friendly staff. The place is beautiful and the price is decent. Valet parking price was high , but typical, and there are parking garages nearby that are more affordable but less convenient. I highly recommend Hotel Abri for your San Francisco adventure!

We stayed at this hotel a number of years ago and loved it. We decided to book again with our kids. Other than the resort fee that is new and not worth the daily fee, the hotel itself is located in the heart of downtown close to all forms of transit. You can also walk to many places as well. We took an Uber from the airport to the hotel (with a coupon) and took the trolley and bus to all the other places we wanted to visit. Tons of shopping right at your doorstep.

My only kudos really goes to, Edwin, who was extremely helpful throughout our 5 night stay. He went above and beyond. I remember asking one of the people at the front desk for help and she was not helpful at all. Edwin overheard, stepped in kindly and offered a solution and assistance right away. Greatly appreciated. More staff should be as solution driven as Edwin. Making guests feel welcome and helped in any situation, albeit small.

Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, in terms of location. I feel some of the staff were either new or require a bit more training in finding solutions or helping guests out.

Room tip: Ask for as large a room as possible; - also a quiet one away from the main street - noisy

Hello Gloria, thank you for sharing your experience with us while a guest at the Hotel Abri. Please accept my sincere apology if the desk staff were not as helpful and knowledgeable like Edwin. We have a few new desk agents and they're still in training. However, this is not an excuse for any of our staff to be perceived as unhelpful. Which is why I shared your comment with the front desk staff so they can improve their knowledge and service skills. Thank you for your feedback. We hope to see you again in the near future.
