“Great Little Place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

We got there on Saturday and was greeted by a nice door guard and two great staff members at the desk. Checkin was painless since it was prepurchased through an affliaite booking site. The room was a little small, but it was very cozy. The room was very modern looking, and provided true HD TV. (although we did not even use it)

Great location, provided us with many options for walking around and window shopping before we left Union Square to our next destination. Very centrally located!! The bart station is only a block away

Parking was kind of a nightmare, it was 40 dollars a night, so we opted out and found another place a few blocks walking distance for cheaper.

Overall, this place was a great value! 88% on Tripadvisor + magnificent pricing.

Room Tip: If you are in a group of > 4 please opt in for a suite! It is a very small room :D

Abri is a very nice and modern hotel in an old building in the Heart of San Francisco. It is very tastefully decorated, clean and fresh. Interior rooms are quiet and will allow you a great nites sleep. Real HD TV, not just a big screen with SD TV. You wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Inside rooms are quiet.

Just got back from SF and eager to leave recommendation for Hotel Abri. Located just a couple blocks from Union Square, this will be our go-to place for future visits to the City. Its on a quieter street and easily walkable to Union Square, Market Street, street cars, and Ferry building. Interior is approachable modern with some rooms (not all, I'm told) have a small living room next to a bedroom. Each room has flat screen TV. Linens were great and bed was very comfortable. Roomy standup shower was a nice change from typical bathtub setup for most hotels. Staff was very friendly, helpful to give directions and cheerfully arranged shuttle service to airport. Nice Italian bar and grill next door as well. All this at a good rate (I shopped around.)

Room Tip: You can stay in the front of the hotel and get a 'view' of the street life but this also mea...

We had a great stay at the Abri. Very friendly staff. We loved the smaller hotel, very quiet inside. We had the suite with an outside window to the busy street and the bedroom window to the inside for quiet sleep. Rooms are not huge but very well updated and comfortable. Close to everything that we needed while in San Francisco. We will stay there again.

We stayed here with small children. The room was tiny! The internet was slow and to get faster speeds you had to pay more.
The room was clean though, comfy beds, and the hotel is close to great shopping! Some of the staff were great, while others not so friendly.

Good choice if you want to stay in an older, more historic building that's been renovated and updated with smart furniture. It's a short walk from Powell Street station on BART, so you can get there easily by train from the airport. It's not cheap (in the $225 and up range), but reasonable for San Francisco. It is near Union Square, so the area is swarming with tourists.

There is free wifi, but it was a little weak (slow) in my room. It worked fine in the lobby. Free local newspapers in the lobby too, and free coffee in the morning. Front desk staff have maps and are helpful with directions.

The street-facing rooms are a bit noisy, as there's a nightclub across the street with people lined up outside. It seems like the hum of voices was loudest from 11 pm to 1 am. If you're used to city street noise, it will be fine, but if not, you might ask for a room facing the other side (I suspect these don't have much of a view).

I stayed in early November, and being an old building, the room was a tiny bit chilly. It was fine for sleeping, under some nice covers, but it might have been cold if I had wanted to work in the room for extended periods. The bed was big and comfy, there was a nice sitting chair and a big flat-screen TV. Just a shower, no bathtub, but fixtures were newly renovated, and hot water was sufficient.

For a drink:
Hopping place with wine and craft beers is Press Club on a small street (Yerba Buena lane) on the other side of Market Street. A smaller and quieter place (with gourmet chocolates too) is Eno wine bar on Geary Street, between Mason and Powell.

Eating
Not local fare, but good modern southern US cooking at Hops & Hominy on the other side of Union Square. With local beer.

I found this hotel charming. It reminds me of some of the older, boutique hotels I've stayed at in Europe. The elevators are small, the stairs steep and the floors creak a little bit. I opted for the deluxe king room which I would consider spacious by city standards. Nice king bed, flat screen TV with tons of HD channels and a sitting room with desk, fridge and cafe table and two chairs. The bath was completely modern with nice finishes. There were even two bathrobes in the room. That's a nice touch.
