This hotel is in the hub of Union Square…if you want to experience all that San Fran has to offer Hotel Abri is the perfect for getting you started. My husband and I stayed the weekend prior to New Year’s, we came to town for a NCAA Bowl Game and to see the Niners play The Abri gives you access to all of the SF public transit systems, wonderful shopping and scrumptious restaurants.

Having never been to SF, I looked and looked for the best place to stay without blowing my budget. Hotel Abri fit the bill perfectly. It's just a few steps from Union Square and all the public transportation options (including cable cars) you could want at Powell and Market.

Our room was large and nicely appointed. The only downside was the view overlooking a dirty alley, but I wasn't exactly paying for a room with a view, anyway. The building is obviously old, but everything was clean and seemed well-maintained. The bed was large and comfortable. There was a huge TV, but I think we only turned it on once since there is just too much to see in San Francisco to waste time watching the tube.

One final note: the customer service was outstanding. Sometime between booking the room and actually taking our trip, we extended our vacation by a day. When checking in (at the end of a very long day), I managed to forget to book an additional night and didn't remember until the day we'd originally intended to leave. By then, of course, the hotel was completely booked (the day before New Year's Eve). The lady at the front desk was very concerned that we not be too inconvenienced, so she immediately began calling other hotels in the area, while simultaneously checking online travel sites, to find us another room. In less than 10 minutes, we had a new room less than a block away in a hotel almost as nice as the Abri.

This place is a real find, and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Union Square without spending an arm and a leg.

Simply cannot argue with the value for money for this hotel. The staff were very welcoming, the rooms clean and well furnished but with an inside window, very little daylight shone into the room. Definitely one to be recommended though if you want to be in a central location at a good price!

Our family of 4 stayed for two nights after Xmas. Pros: good room size, convenient location (close to cable car terminal & muni), & reasonable price. Cons: street noise (garbage trucks were heard for a long time during the night), upstair noise (footsteps, probably due to the age of the building), and not so warm front desk.

Room Tip: Ellis O'Farrell garage is close by, convenient & about $15 per day cheaper than valet parkin...

this is a little hotel in the heart of san francisco. it was cheap considering that we're staying close to union square. everything is walking distance from this hotel.... shopping, restaurants and there's even a club in front of the hotel if you're into that scene. the room is kind of small for US standards.
the only reason why i gave this hotel a 4 star instead of 5 is because of the service. service was good but when they clean your room , they won't re stack your toiletries. i have to call the front desk to point this out.
overall , i will still go back to this hotel. its a hidden gem in the city.

We booked two king size rooms over Christmas for a $119 daily rate. When we got there they upgraded us to suites given the hotel was more than half empty due to the holidays.

GREAT:
- Rooms are nice, decent sized, clean and quiet
- Great value for money (especially with our upgrade)
- Location super central right off Union Square
- Staff were very friendly and helpful

NOT SO GREAT:
- Due to the holidays, their restaurant was closed hence no breakfast possible in-house
- Upon departure it took ages to get the car back from the valet service

Overall, I definitely recommend this venue if you look for a reasonably prized, clean and central place.

Room Tip: Suite 407 is nice because the living room has street view whereas the bedroom faces the back yard wh...
