“Enjoyed Our Stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2007

We arrived around 12 noon. Though check in wasn't until 3 pm or so, there was no issue with early check in. The staff was courteous and friendly. The room was nice though a bit small. The beds were comfortable. The location couldn't be better- close enough to walk to fishermans wharf, far enough to be away from the noise. One incident: The electricty went off one evening while three of us were trying to get ready to go out. I contacted the desk person. It took a long time for them to answer and when she did, she was completely frazzled with no explanation. It was off for about an hour or longer then came back on. I am still unsure of what occurred.

One more important detail: Parking is STEEP at the hotel @ $40 per night. However, it is difficult to park on the streets and alternate side street parking daily is enforced. If you have time to mess with it, it will save you some $.

There is a great little bar down on Fishermans Wharf called Lou's Restaurant & Blues Bar-- ask for Vince, great bartender. They also have a CD they are selling that is Awesome!

Terrific hotel, spacious and very clean rooms, Very polite staff, and only a short walk to Fishermans Wharf.
Front rooms tend to be a little noisy, but would highly recommend, and would stay here again.

  • Liked — Willingness of staff to be of help

This location has some of the best staff I have dealt with in a while. The front desk and concierge were VERY helpful in providing recommendations for nice dinners, quick bites, tours to take, and places to walk to.
The hotel room was a bit more "average" than I expected, but it was still fairly large and clean.
The bar area and the gift shop downstairs are both very nice. As you enter the lobby, you are overwhelmed with a wonderful smell of the huge fresh flower bouquet that adorns the marble table in the lobby.
The hotel is within a shirt walking distance of several great restaurants, the Pier, and Ghiradelli square. Excellent location!
And, of course, the Marriott beds always make for a wonderful night sleep.

Parking was EXPENSIVE, but I guess that can be expected for parking in a downtown city where public transportation is the best way to get around. But, the valet guys were great. Every time I wanted to leave and drive somewhere, they had my car waiting for me before I even made it down the elevator. And, they are incredibly professional and polite.

All in all, we had a great stay at this hotel!

  • Liked — The location was incredible! So close to all the great things to do.
  • Disliked — The parking was expensive at the hotel, and really added up after a 4 day stay.

The Marriott is located close to the heart of Fisherman's Wharf but is far enough away to allow some tranquility. There are numerous good restaurants close by and the public bus is right by the hotel.

The rooms are a good size, in-room Starbucks, and appear to be reasonably priced by San Francisco's lofty standards.

  • Liked — Large attractive rooms
  • Disliked — Aging TV not even flat screen

The location of this property couldn't be better for sightseeing around the wharf, Pier 39 and the Alcatraz Tour. The hotel is small and older but well maintained. Our room was clean and check-in was easy. The hotel advertised their new luxurious beds but they were a disappointment--much too soft for a good night's sleep. The only thing that would keep me from staying here again is the parking fee--a whopping $40 per day! The worst part is that there is a public parking lot one block north and two blocks east that only charges $6.00/ day. I really hate it when I feel that I have been taken advantage of like that. Shame on you, Marriott!

  • Disliked — parking fee, uncomfortable beds

I would have rated this hotel perfect except for one small detail -
yes, they do have very comfortable pillow top beds but the hotel is using standard size sheets which are not large enough to accomodate the extra thickness of the pillow top mattress.
The result is a sheet which keeps flipping off of the mattress corners, making for a very annoying nights sleep.
On the positive side, the hotel was very nice with very helpful personnel at the front desk, clean and quiet rooms, and very close to all of the major attractions. If Marriott can correct this issue, this could be one of the best hotels in the Wharf area.

  • Liked — Quiet rooms despite buzy area
  • Disliked — sheets on beds were not the proper size for the pillowtop mattress

The Marriott Fisherman's Wharf has an excellent staff, great location and best of all - the most comfortable beds ever. My husband, 2 daugthers and I absolutely loved this place. We stayed June 8th and 9th. I would highly recommend this hotel when visiting San Francisco.
