“Conference in The city by the bay!”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

Went a last minute trip to San Francisco for a conference @ the Marriott Fisherman's wharf. The last time I was @ this property it was almost 25 years ago. Well not much has changed in my opinion about the wharf. Still a great place to check things out and enjoy the the views of the bay.

As to the hotel. Thank God it has been redecorated. But if my memory failed me, I could swear that the same light fixtures where still in use. Besides that the hotel looks slightly dated or should I say worn. but given the amount of people who come through the doors it is in remarkable shape.

The staff is out standing! A true multicultural experience.

My room was the standard king room. Carpet was slightly worn but clean and the room smelled very clean. The bathroom was spotless and had the flare that I have come to expect from Marriott. The bed was comfortable, but I would have liked softer sheets. But I am an old fart!

The view from the room is excellent. Ask for a bay view room if price is not of concern.

The bar is something to behold. It is currently the choice of upper end of the cities elite. Stop by have a drink and enjoy the show! It was full of East Coast Academics trying to mix!

There is little to criticise about this hotel, but there is also nothing to really rave about apart from the location.

It is a consistent Marriott so you know exactly what you are getting. The welcome and check in was friendly but nondescript. The room is comfy and spacious, the bed very comfortable. Breakfast is OK, but not great by any means.

The fitness centre is well appointed and was never too busy.

I would stay here again, but if you are looking for an 'experience' you may want to look on. The location is great and very convenient to Fisherman's Wharf.

This was the last marriott available. I had not stayed by the wharf and was worried that it would be too touristy it was not. It was a very nice hotel. Up to marriott standards. I will stay here again

Stayed at the Marriott for two nights in November. The room was clean and the same décor as other Marriott's I have stayed at. We received a free continental breakfast each morning as I am a gold member.

Everyone from the front desk, housekeeping and the restaurant were friendly, professional and outgoing. We ran into a few minor issues but they were quickly and professionally resolved.

The walk to Fisherman's Wharf is only a few blocks away and there are a number of restaurants in the area.

Would not hesitate to stay here again.

I've stayed at the Marriott in Fisherman's Wharf for only one night but the experience was great, the staff was really nice and friendly and the location is great, even if you don't have a vehicle you can walk to many attractions.
The room size was more than sufficient (I was staying in a king room by myself) and very comfortable.
I haven't tried the restaurant but for breakfast, it was alright but nothing special even considering its price.
Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will choose it next time I go to SF.

Slightly disappointed with the hotel. Scarce supplies in the room. One gown and one teabag for two people. Had to ask twice for extra supplies. Certainly no added luxuries and wifi comes at a cost. Room service food was below par. The hotel was clean though. It's put me off staying in Marriotts in future because the standard is so variable.

I have always stayed int he union square area when I visit SFO, I think no longer. I really liked this area....touristy...yes. But if your here to visit all facilities are near by, bike rentals for riding over the bridge, the boats going for a harbor tour or to Alcatraz. south beach where there is no shortage of restaurants. local transportation is here so you can take a bus, tram or access to the BART. I was here with my wife and 10yr old. It was great. Hotel was centrally located, rooms were decent size and clean, not much of a view but we weren't really there much other then sleeping. security.....felt safe around the hotel , at night as well the area overall was good, then again we weren't coming in at midnight or anything like that. I would definitely stay here again if given the chance. price wise it competes with similar hotels nearby. By the way they offer breakfast on some of their room rates. Its a good breakfast and convenient to get a quick start on your day of sight seeing. its a cleaner and safer area, this stands out from union square area. no pool...oh well.
