I have always stayed int he union square area when I visit SFO, I think no longer. I really liked this area....touristy...yes. But if your here to visit all facilities are near by, bike rentals for riding over the bridge, the boats going for a harbor tour or to Alcatraz. south beach where there is no shortage of restaurants. local transportation is here so you can take a bus, tram or access to the BART. I was here with my wife and 10yr old. It was great. Hotel was centrally located, rooms were decent size and clean, not much of a view but we weren't really there much other then sleeping. security.....felt safe around the hotel , at night as well the area overall was good, then again we weren't coming in at midnight or anything like that. I would definitely stay here again if given the chance. price wise it competes with similar hotels nearby. By the way they offer breakfast on some of their room rates. Its a good breakfast and convenient to get a quick start on your day of sight seeing. its a cleaner and safer area, this stands out from union square area. no pool...oh well.

My wife and I took our first trip to San Fran and wanted to find a Marriott right in the middle of the all the touristy things. The Marriott at Fisherman's Wharf was the perfect location. We were in walking distance of the pier with Alcatraz, China Town, and a bunch of great restaurants. The hotel itself is a bit outdated, but we did not care as much about the hotel itself, but just about the location. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the hotel and using the amenities, I would look elsewhere. The hotel was clean and the staff was adequate.

The location is perfect - very convenient, within walking distance to a lot of attractions. Leave the car behind if you can because parking options are expensive. The hotel is older, so it's not new and shiny - perhaps this balances with the location to provide a good value.

Located minutes from fisherman's wharf- friendly helpful staff. Good nights sleep, paid wifi and $50! Parking fee. Stayed in room 321 facing street, too noisy. Minutes from historic cable cars located Hyde street. Make sure you buy bread at boudin, if time allows take 20 minute baking class

This is a great location for sightseeing in SF. It's not so close to the wharf that the noise keeps you awake at night. Our room could use a new mattress but it wasn't unbearable. A few hairs in the sink and shower when we checked in which is basic sloppy housekeeping oversight and grossly annoying.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Did not really enjoy food at the bar when we ate there to watch World Series but then you don't go to SF to eat at the hotel.

Because it is a few blocks off wharf and in the center it is easy to go either way when walking wharf and a few blocks from trolley to get across town.

Have stayed here before on business and the return met expectations. Nice room, very comfortable with good amenities. Restaurant is a bit limited but the food is good and the place is within walking distance of great restaurants. People are very nice and professional and rates are reasonable given the location. No do-it-yourself parking on site and valet is very expensive at $50/night. I will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a view room - if they aren't full they might upgrade you at no cost.

Moved here from The Palace Hotel to be nearer to the Embarcadero. was a very nice hotel with clean and comfortable room. Very friendly staff, every morning the maids in the hallways were so friendly and all the reception staff too. Well located, very close to Ghirardelli Square and the Embarcadero, also North Beach and all the authentic Italian restaurants there.

Room Tip: Ask for rimes ending in 1 or 2 e.g. 402 as they seem to be a little bigger, even if they are a sligh...
