I stayed at the Hyatt Regency with a friend whilst we were travelling around California. The hotel although a bit dated was nice and comfortable. Staff were very attentive. We had booked a balcony room and when we were assigned our room it didnt have a balcony, they moved us to the correct room and gave us a bar voucher for the inconvenience. Room attendants were very good. The views from the balcony were great, we could see out to the bay and see the Oakland Bay Bridge. Location of the hotel is great. You only have to step out the door onto the trams and its only a short trip to pier 39 where its all happening!!!! The hotel is a bit on the high side for prices but after some of research it seems San Fransisco is an expensive place to stay on the whole so we weren't to bothered about paying around $330 a night!!!!

I stayed in this hotel when it was first built, 40 years ago, and returned to find it as amazing and luxurious as it was then. Make sure to stay on the Executive Lounge floors and experience the view from the rooftop lounge. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the entire experience joyful.

Hotel smelled of too much carpet fresh. We were given a renovated room; they should fire the designer and the decorator. Not enough lighting in the room, odd angles and wasted space in the foyer area. Small bathroom with shower only, no tub. Terrible position of TV in bathroom mirror; blocked grooming visibility. I have no plans to ever stay at this hotel again.

My stay at the Hyatt was everything I would want from a hotel. Simple, helpful staff and good food.

This hotel is one of the best we've ever stayed at. Super clean, great location and staff was very friendly and helpful (well, except the guy at the Bell Desk).

We had stayed at the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco on our previous trip and there is absolutely no comparison!! While the Grand Hyatt was a terrible experience in a run-down location, the Hyatt Regency was a breath of fresh air and finally gave some positive marks for us on the Hyatt brand.

We booked through Priceline and was guaranteed a room with a king bed, but needed two beds. Over the phone the hotel would not guarantee that would could get the double beds, but the front desk staff was very friendly and we got the double bed room no problem.

The room was spotless, the beds were so comfortable we didn't want to get out of them in the morning. We had a bay view room on the sixth floor and had no noise from other rooms or the outside.. even with the clock tower bells, we didn't hear anything at night (not sure if it goes off at night). They also have a spacious gym with all the equipment you need and enough of it.

We highly recommend staying at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco. We will be back!

Parking was expensive at $57 but was valet and provided no-cost in and out privileges. For those parking for only a day or so, there is a self parking garage at Embarcadero 3, just a small block from the hotel's valet entrance on the left.. Drumm and Clay streets at $32 max for 24 hours on the weekend.

My husband and I enjoyed staying here for 3 nights over Memorial weekend.
The location couldn't have been better. Easy walking distance to North Beach, China Town, across the street from the Ferry Building (love the Sat. farmers market) but away from the hustle and bustle of Union square (though still walkable). We booked our room through priceline for $91 per night and when we checked in they offered an upgrade to
the Regency rooms for $70. We declined but requested a room on a high floor and facing Market Street. We were then told that the highest floor available was the 2nd floor. I went to check out the room, it was room 218 and was dark and small. I went back down to the front desk and talked to another staff member about changing our room. She found a room on the 9th floor-room 921 and then proceeded to tell me that they usually don't allow people to change rooms! Unbelievable. We always use Priceline to book a hotel in San Francisco and have stayed in this hotel at least 6 times and have never encountered any type of attitude from the staff. Well, room 921 turned out to be a great room. It was large and had a fantastic view of the bay and Ferry building. I do think the rooms are a bit dated and the carpets definitely need to be replaced but its one thing to pay $91 per night and another to pay $300 per night .The bed was super comfortable and we slept very soundly (hardly any street noise!) If you are staying here, either park in the Embarcadero parking lot on Drumm/Clay street or the Golden Gate garage on Clay and Davis st. (I think Sat parking is $7 per day but check their website, there is also some information for this garage on yelp.com, both will be cheaper than the Hyatt.
Since we arrived late we wanted to eat somewhere closeby so we walked down to the Embarcadero, took a right and walked about 2 blocks to Chaya Brassiere. They have happy hour all night and serve great food and drinks. The next day we went to the mission district for Carnaval and it was so convenient to walk the short distance to Bart and cost $1.75 one way. All in all we enjoy staying at this hotel because of the location , it can't be beat!

Room Tip: rooms facing drumm st are noisy
