We stayed at the Hyatt Regency recently when we spent a night in San Francisco for Giants baseball games. It is so convenient to the park, walking to and from the park. The hotel itself was great. The room was so quiet that we didn't even know we had neighbors on either side or up or below us. The room was very roomy and the bed and bedding was very comfortable. The best thing was that we got the room through Priceline for only a $100.00. Another review mentioned the ridiculous amount charged for parking. Right down the street was a parking garage where we parked the car for a whopping $7 for the night. This was a great stay for an even greater price.

Great location with stunning views of bay and bridge.

Lobby area is amazing, very stunning with a nice bar

Rooms are above average although very expensive. Great place to stay as long as you're not paying!

For the price of the room and the brand name, I expected more from the Hyatt. In a nutshell, I will try other hotels near my office in SF because I expect there will be a better value.

I'll start off with the good:

- I ended up with a great view of the bay because the front desk person upgraded my room. However, this was after she said I could have a view room for an extra $40 a night which I declined.
- Amazing location if you need to be downtown.
- There's an in-room safe which is very handy.
- The workout room has really up-to-date cardio machines and a wide variety of weight machines as well as weights. So I was able to keep up on my fitness schedule while I was there. In fact, on the cardio machines, you can watch TV or hook the display up to your iPod/iPhone to watch a movie.

That said, I felt the bad really outweighed the good.

- First, the rooms are somewhat outdated. The colors are drab and the rooms quite spartan. For example, the chairs don't have pillows. The windows were dirty and the room wasn't very clean.

- The bathroom was a complete disappointment. First, the lighting is awful. Flourescent lighting reminiscent of a bus terminal. The fixtures are old and worn out. You must stand and hold the toilet handle whie it flushes or it doesn't flush correctly. I could go on, but you get the idea.

- Really?! I have to pay $10 a day for internet after spending over $300 a night for the room. Come on Hyatt, that's just plain ridiculous. There's free wifi everywhere now.

- Lack of attention to detail. For example, the clock was not set correctly in my room, the pen didn't work, etc. All these small inconveniences really add up, especially after you've had a long trip or a long day at work.

- Room service isn't very good. I called down to request a set of silverware and they asked if I could go and get it from the restaurant. Not exactly the pinnacle of good service.

Not the worst hotel, but not a good value for the money.

Hotel exceeded expectations. The location is ideal , within steps of the ferry building and transportation. Our Alcatraz trip and trip to ATT park were a breeze. When I return with friends, will definetely stay here again.!

Room Tip: must request a bayview room

Comfortable enough and good location. Good pool and jacuzzi area too. But why cant' they provide free internet access? We went to the Holiday Inn over the road for internet access which was free. We would stay at the Holiday Inn next time and they would get our business for the restaurant and bars as well. Come on Hyatt, is it worth losing customers for the sake of free internet?

A 3 room suite with 2 bathrooms, one with a tv, but the shower door is crooked and won't close. San Fran is known for great coffee but the in room coffee pot is a cheap monstrosity even Walmart wouldn't sell. The coffee in the restaurant downstairs is undrinkable. There are 11 different kinds of hard liquor in the suite but no tea. The room is gorgeous but i can hear every word from my neighbors tv, every noise they make, even when they drop their toilet seat. $300 for this?!

I was perhaps thinking because of location that this hotel would really knock my socks off. It is nice, however, I believe it is showing some age. The room sizes were outstanding. It was very clean but had some dated furnishings and finishes. You cannot beat the location which drives the cost per night. I would stay there again for convenience but not for a special occasion or personal travel.
