Holiday Inn Golden Gateway located strategcally at the California cable line (At the last stop in Van Ness) . it is within walking distance to several eateries, both Local Cuisine , Asian Cuisine.

If you check in at the hotel, remember to ask from the Reception a handout that will show you all the restaurants and cafe nearby.
The reception will also be able to provide the local transportation to some place of interest, eg : Fisherman Wharf, Pier 39, Union Square, Twin Peaks.

one drawback, the housekeeping will start make up the room as early as 7.30am, if you wish not to be disturbed, please inform the reception upon check in.

I appreciate the positive feedback and the constructive criticism. We certainly have many great restaurants nearby, as well as easy access to the waterfront by cable car or bus. Your comments about the early cleaning will be shared with our Housekeeping Department. Thank you.

great location. Great room on 22 nd floor. There for 3 nights. On second day no coffee nor cups left after room had been serviced. And bin had not been emptied. Bar service so slow. One barman who took forever and two waitress who stood about delivering the occasional meal. Only wanted a drink before bed but 'lost the will to live' and gave up and went to bed at 9. 30. Will not be back and I would not recommend. Last night of holiday totally spoiled because of this dreadful service in the bar.

I appreciate the time and effort you took to share your experience with us. Clearly the outstanding room and view was not good enough to make up for the service. That is discouraging and we will use it to make improvements. Thank you.

Came there for one of the stops on our honeymoon journey, Stayed at the hotel for one night, the service was great, got champagne to the room as a complimentary of the house which was great, new and stylish room, everything was clean, huge bed and clean, free WIFI at the rooms, excellent view of the city, good location, 30$ self parking whole day in&out, good location (10-15min by car to Fisherman's wharf), 20min to Golden bridge, great value for the money, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for the new renovated rooms at the hotel, ask for a high floor and corner room so you will have a panoramic view of the city - Amazing!

We stayed in room 1906 on the 19th floor which had a wonderful view of the city, it was especially lovely at night when all the lights of the city came on. The room has 1 bed which was really comfortable, TV, coffee maker, fridge. A good sized bathroom. Everything was clean. Our room was however next to the lift which might not suit someone who is a light sleeper. You can catch the number 47 bus to Fisherman's Wharf outside the hotel.(On the return journey to the hotel get off at Pine bus stop) You pay 2 dollars for the bus ticket & you can then use this bus ticket as many times as you like within 2 hours. There is also a cable car near the hotel on California Street. A cable car journey costs 6 dollars for each trip, so if you get off, then on again you pay another 6 dollars. We had a good meal at Pompeis Grotto on Jefferson Street, Fisherman's Wharf. The Levi shop in Union Square is also well worth a visit if you are looking for jeans.

found this hotel a little out of the way, no where near all that San Francisco has to offer, and thats loads. But at least during the day the trolly's and trams were regular and you could get to pier 39
(tourist area) with ease.
The front of the hotel overlooks a filling station and has a Wells Fargo bank next door, there are places around and about to eat and drink but dont be too fussy

Room Tip: ask for a rear room, there quieter and with luck you'll see golden gate

The cable cars and buses certainly make it easy to get around the city. I appreciate your comments. Thank you for staying with us.
