Holiday Inn San Francisco Golden Gateway

We stayed in room 1906 on the 19th floor which had a wonderful view of the city, it was especially lovely at night when all the lights of the city came on. The room has 1 bed which was really comfortable, TV, coffee maker, fridge. A good sized bathroom. Everything was clean. Our room was however next to the lift which might not suit someone who is a light sleeper. You can catch the number 47 bus to Fisherman's Wharf outside the hotel.(On the return journey to the hotel get off at Pine bus stop) You pay 2 dollars for the bus ticket & you can then use this bus ticket as many times as you like within 2 hours. There is also a cable car near the hotel on California Street. A cable car journey costs 6 dollars for each trip, so if you get off, then on again you pay another 6 dollars. We had a good meal at Pompeis Grotto on Jefferson Street, Fisherman's Wharf. The Levi shop in Union Square is also well worth a visit if you are looking for jeans.

found this hotel a little out of the way, no where near all that San Francisco has to offer, and thats loads. But at least during the day the trolly's and trams were regular and you could get to pier 39
(tourist area) with ease.
The front of the hotel overlooks a filling station and has a Wells Fargo bank next door, there are places around and about to eat and drink but dont be too fussy

Room Tip: ask for a rear room, there quieter and with luck you'll see golden gate

The cable cars and buses certainly make it easy to get around the city. I appreciate your comments. Thank you for staying with us.

Stayed here near the end of a 17 day tour. Room was comfortable and clean. Didn't have any meals there since there are places to eat nearby. Really handy for the cable car. Very very helpful lady in the hotel gift shop who gave us perfect directions

We stayed here in mid April 2013 as the final destination of a 3 week tour of the West Coast of US. Ru Paster, the Front Office Manager took great care of us and went the extra mile by booking us in for an additional day when we requested it at short notice. Ru also took the time to give us his inside tips of where to eat and what to see in SF, we really appreciated his kindness and it made our stay in SF even more special. The hotel itself is in a great location, right round the corner from a tram stop and there was a Starbucks downstairs if you needed it. However, I would recommend checking out the independent coffee shops just a few doors down, ( lovely coffee and great food). Will be staying here on our next trip for sure.

I couldn't agree more. That Ru is quite something! Actually, it's just those types of opportunities to help guest's that makes this worthwhile. It will be great to see you again.

We stayed here as part of an American West tour which also took in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The hotel was clean and comfortable and in a great location for the cable car and local bus to Fisherman's Wharf. Views from the upper floors were great but there was some traffic noise even on the 21st floor.

This morning we checked out. My friend's legs are covered with bed bug bites. I picked up someone's old knee high hose & old peanuts from carpet. Air conditioner was mildewed. Decor from the 80's. electricity didn't work in half the room. Yuk!

I am not happy to hear about the condition of your room. We work too hard and care too much to allow this to happen. I truly hope the staff was informed before you checked out so we could address the problem. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

The hotel doesn't look attractive at street level, but that doesn't matter.
The reception area isn't very attractive- but that didn't bother me.
The hotel is located at the end of the cable car line so it is easy to get to the city centre.
Each time i went to my room i looked out over the city and siad to myself that I am happy to be in San Francisco.
