“Freezing lobby and corridors”
Reviewed December 13, 2009

Nice location and handy for transport to the city centre. Rooms clean and tidy. Heating throughout the hotel was a problem. The cold air was blasting out of the vents as you left the lift and there was no other source of heating until you reached your bedroom. Some days the heating in the bedrooms was switched off in the day by ,whilst we were out. It took about a hour to heat the room up. Everyone in the hotel complained about how cold it was and we all needed thermals, hat and gloves in communal areas. We complained on the first day of a 5 night stay but nothing changed. Obviously it is not the warmest time to go to San Francisco but the lack of background heating in the hotel spoilt our stay.

Thank you very much for the review of our hotel. We are happy to see that you enjoyed the clean and tidy room. This winter is unusually cold here in San Francisco. Our Engineering Department is aware and looking at ways to keep the cold air out and the warm air in during unusually cold days.

Thank you.

I knew I should keep my expectation realistic - I mean, at the end of the day, it is a "Holiday Inn", and when the shuttle pulled up and I made my way, with my bags, towards the building across the street from the check-in desk, my heart sank a little. It was just my expectations getting the better of me, as the tiny photo I had seen was of the main reception building, and the place I was heading towards didn't look so nice (on the outside)...but, as soon as I got into the building, that frown was turned upside down.

My room was neat, crisp, clean...and really big!...with a huge bed, desk, nice TV, and the bathroom was pretty spacious too! (Without sounding crude, not a stray hair in sight!).

There's a Denny's connected to this building (the one on Beach St), which was great for a breakfast deal that will fill you up until the afternoon. Pancakes, I'll give two thumbs up!
There's also a Starbucks literally a minutes walk away. Something you know and trust.

The Hotel is in a brilliant location- literally a minute's walk and you are on "Fishermans Wharf", a tourist hot-spot, with lots of restaurants, bars, shops, and things to stare at in awe.
Literally ten-fifteen minutes walk away you will find yourself in Little Italy...and Chinatown is another five minutes away. More restaurants, shops, and bars! :)

Speaking of bars...there was an amazing blues bar, called "Lou's" on Jefferson Street (take a left after Starbucks and it's across the street)- great food, lots of drinks to choose from...and some amaaaaazing tunes to relax to.

So, in all, the Holiday Inn was a great deal! Inexpensive, clean, and safe. Perfect!

Visited SFO early November 2009 and stayed at the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel was surpisingly good, better than the nominal 3 star rating. We arrived early, but the receptionist was able to find us another room that was already made up ... very accommodating. The room was clean and spacious and the staff of the hotel were very helpful. Right in the middle of the tourist centre of Fisherman's Wharf, it was only 5 minutes from anywhere. No complaints, relatively inexpensive and highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel and were very impressed. Staff were friendly and helpful from check in to check out. The WIFI in the hotel room was free, fast, and easy to connect. Beds are only doubles but everything was clean and housekeeping kept the room tidy. Holiday Inn is far away from Fisherman's Wharf so it is quiet at night but a very short walk to the cable car, streetcar (F line tram), wharves, and Jefferson St. It was very easy to stroll down to In n Out burgers. Dennys is close by and you get a good feed but it is pricey compared to other options. Joe's Crab restaurant was fantastic.

Stayed here on business - hotel is well placed for tourists who want to be in the fisherman's wharf area - loads of restaurants in the area and about 100 yards to the wharf. Hotel is pretty unprepossessing from the outside and the lobby is a bit tired. There is no bar in the hotel and the only restaurant is a Denny's family restaurant concession.
Having said that the rooms are fine and clean - the beds are comfy and the wifi is free.
The Holiday Inn express round the corner is better appointed - has free breakfast (Cheers !) and about the same price.

This hotel not only charges $35 + tax a day for parking, but it consists of 2 separate buildings. We were given a room in the "Beach St. Building", which is a half a block from the main lobby. In this second building, there is a small front desk were people barely greet you in the morning with a "hello", and also closes/opens earlier. In fact, upon checking out, we had 4 large luggage cases and there was someone in the front desk who did not even ask if we needed a bellboy (if we would have, we would have needed to go to the main building and request for one). We found staff overall to barely be polite. Also, we checked in at around 6 om and they mentioned that the "main building was full already" and that´s why we were given a room in the other building. Totally false since several couples checked in hours after us and got a room in the main building. Our room faced the hotel´s garbage dumps and maintenance, and at least 3 times a night we would wake up either to street cleaning or noise from maintenance or the garbage truck. The main advantage of the hotel is just being in Fisherman´s Wharf. Minifridge was an extra $10+tax per night.
We would recommend this hotel to people who don´t mind a rude service but are just happy about being close to Fisherman´s Wharf and public transportation. We would not return.
