“Still a great choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2011

We stayed here again in January 2011 for three nights in an executive king.
We were again kindly upgraded to the top floor bay view with balcony. The viesws from this floor are spectacular. The staff again were all very helpful and friendly, special note to Andrew on the front desk checked us in. We had no problem with the small amount of noise we could hear from the building construction next door, but you do hear it. Housekeeping were exceptional, room was alweays clean and fresh. I much prefer this area being close to North Beach, Chinatown, Telegraph Hilland Nob Hill. the only disappointment was that the Executive Lounge has not re-opened.
Would recommend booking a luxury floor room and emailing ahead to see if you can get a top floor balcony room, they are well worth the money.

We wanted to have a room with a view of the city that wasn't too expensive. Hilton in the Financial District was the ticket. We needed to make arrangements and they did a lot of the legwork for me which was very much appreciated. Their attention to detail was excellent and their service in room and at the restaurant was superb.

I only have good things to say about the room itself.. from the comfortable bed to the shampoo. But of course, even though we'd appreciated all these things, it was the view we wanted and we were extremely pleased.

Since it is the financial district it is close to great shopping the Wharf, Chinatown and Coit Tower and of course a million banks.

Have previously stayed at this hotel two years ago. It was OK then, price was right considering this is least expensive Hilton in San Francisco. Location is actually closer to Chinatown and houses the Chinese Cultural Center on the third floor.

Room was a little shopworn--scratches on door and closet and marks on the lamp. Bathroom had not been updated recently. Liked the plasma screen TV.

I was on the 22nd floor and unfortunately, that did not stop the noise from traveling from street level up. Also could hear people walking down the hallways at night. Have never been in such a noisy/less sound proofed hotel. Last time I was on the Bay view side, was quieter. This time facing city view, could this really make that much of a difference?
Elevators are not very adequate for the number of people on the weekends. Gym has nice equipment--but reeks of cleaning solution.

Self parking in $45 a nite, you can save $18 a nite like I did by parking the Portsmouth Public Parking Garage across the street.

Kind of disappointed and would not stay here again.

Beautiful decor, great restaurant, good price for room, but overall experience ruined by 2 noisy days and nights. Construction next door not only ruins view of the bay, but is pretty noisy throughout the day. And, at night, on both Friday and Saturday, there seemed to be parties everywhere in the building. With windows closed and both shades drawn, outside noisy crowd (apparently on one of the balconies on top floor) kept us awake both nights. Second night the noise level increased from a party somewhere on our floor....maybe it was out in the hall. This is what you get for choosing a hotel on the weekend before St. Patrick's Day, I guess. And, hard as they tried to upgrade a former Holiday Inn, the building was designed as a less-than-luxury hotel and this is not the Hilton standard we are used to.

Thank you for your comments. Our neighborhood might be a little noisy, but on the plus side, we are located in heart of it all and within walking distance of several popular attractions. We hope you will reconsider and give us another chance.

My one sentence description does not help anyone but i could not help it.The hotel is actually ver slim ,it has very less width and has created space in its depth and height.

Nice place with upper floors having good views of the bay.Rooms were refreshing and comfortable and we had a very pleasant 2 day stay here.Good location in the financial district.5-10 mins walk to downtown and china town ,both.Good value for money.

I stayed at this property on a business trip and must say they have done a nice job catering to business travelers. The staff were all very friendly and easy to deal with. The property has clearly undergone a major renovation - the interior is up to date and very clean. Unfortunately - the bones are still that of a seventies era, cement building. From the outside, it is quite ugly.

The room was nicely appointed and comfortable - as mentioned previously, the "bones" of the building are sub par - I could hear conversation in the room next to me, people using the hair dryer, television, etc. The windows must be of similar low quality - I was on a high floor (23rd) and the noise from the street was unreal - it sounded like I was practically on the ground floor! Very difficult to get a restful night of sleep in spite of the comfy beds.

Overall - the hotel WOULD be a top choice for business travel for all of the reasons mentioned (they even have a house town car that will take you to the airport for a flat rate - VERY nice!) but the terrible night's sleep is a problem. If only the remodel had included some soundproofing - this place would be a solid four stars!

I can't recall a worse hotel experience--perhaps ever. Paper-thin walls like a cheap motel. I called the desk 5 times between 11 pm and 5 am about the noise level next door: shouting, fighting, and carousing all night long. Horrible. The noise was unbelievable, surreal.
Unresponsive, ineffective management meant much of the floor's customers suffered a sleepless night at an upscale hotel.
2 weeks ago I was at the Hyatt Embarcadero, which was a dream: remarkably customer-service oriented organization, top to bottom. Go there instead. Better location, too.
