“Fantastic!”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Stayed here for two nights over Valentines Day/Presidents Day weekend 2013. We stayed in a Grand Club room on the 31st floor, with a view of the city and it's beauty. Well appointed room, huge bathroom and comfy bed. Loved the electronically controlled window shade and the large shower. (The toilet is super loud! haha, it was like a plane taking off the first time we flushed it)

The Grand Club lounge was on the 32nd floor, with a gorgeous view of the city and the bay. Cold drinks, ice, coffee, little snacks are available all day (and a welcome respite!) with a continental breakfast and appetizers/dessert in the evenings.

Concierge helped us with a walking map and amazing place for breakfast our last day. Use them for any of your trip needs.
The bar on the mezzanine level is really good, with decent drink selection. I liked the Moroccan cosmo, it had a really good spice taste to it. The special Valentine's Day drinks weren't my thing, but it's cool they tried to cater a view drinks to the day.

We took BART from SFO to Powell St., then walked several blocks to the Grand Hyatt. It wasn't long, but there is a lot of construction going on and that last block is up hill, so be aware with your lugging your luggage. From SFO to Powell St. on BART, it was $8.10 and took about 30 minutes. We did take a taxi back to SFO, it took about 20 minutes (with no traffic) and was $45.

Plentiful taxis in front of the hotel, a Starbucks across the street and Walgreens around the corner. Really good location!

Definitely consider staying here!

Room Tip: Higher floor, less street noise.

We booked a 3 night stay at this hotel, specially due to its great location.

It is half a block to all shops and restaurants you could ask for.

At check in, we were offered an upgrade to their Club, by paying a fee. It was totally worth it since included internet, breakfast and snacks.

Our room was recently renovated and with breathtaking views from the Bay...the only shame is that they didn't have a king size bed room, so we took double beds for the view.

This is an excellent option in San Francisco, for sure!

I had stayed here years ago and hated it. I stayed here this time because of corporate requirements. A great location (even better than in the past due to build up). Great view, though I would have preferred a quieter room. Food at restaurants better than usual for a hotel. Housekeeping just okay. Fridge in room is TINY-- may not matter to all, but I could barely fit two containers of fruit. Love that you can open the window/door for fresh air.

Last minute trip with a friend, couldn't have asked for a better location for a first time visit to San Francisco. Centrally located whether you choose to explore on foot as we did (we went as far as the Golden Gate), or if cable cars and transit are your preference. Nicely renovated, friendly staff. The reception area is rather odd, not sure what they were going for but if it's a busy time it's a rather confusing set up. On weekends very LOUD music from the lounge/bar fills the entire lobby area. Felt like we were entering a nightclub as opposed to a hotel lobby! Rooms are very comfortable however windows are very thin so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs! We were on the 31st floor and the noise from the street and Union Square could be heard loud and clear and our room wasn't even facing the square. That was the only drawback but with earplugs all was good! Would definitely stay again on a future trip.

This is a wonderfully located and newly refurbished hotel. Situated at union square, it is in walking distance to all of the great shopping places. The hotel has been recently done up, the rooms are spacious and modern and the bathrooms are lovely. Downstairs lobby is groovy and inviting. The staff are wonderful and friendly. Would definitely return here and was a very pleasant stay.

The Grand Hyatt San Francisco sits on a northern corner of Union Square in the city centre, so the location is excellent for all that the city has to offer. During my stay, I think the lobby was being renovated as it was quite small for the size of the hotel and was also not particularly in keeping with the style of the rest of the hotel, as it looked a little dated. The hotel has been renovated with light, bright walls and modern, wood effect surfaces. It’s pleasant and inoffensive. The room was of moderate size, very clean and had the most fantastic view of the San Francisco skyline. The bed was firm and comfortable. Lighting and curtains were controlled electronically. The bathroom was of moderate size, had a lovely modern white suite. Toiletries provided were the Hyatt’s own brand, Portico Spa, which I REALLY don’t like! I wish Hyatt would change these, perhaps provide a nice branded set? The rooms provide high quality, comfort and good value for money. I had received a voucher as my partner is a member of Hyatt’s points scheme that enabled me to upgrade my room from a standard to a Grand Club king. This allowed access to the Grand Club lounge that offered drinks throughout the day including coffee (lattes too!), tea and bottled water. Food was also provided at breakfast, mainly continental offerings but one hot option was available each day and pre-dinner time hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Everything in the lounge was of a very high quality and having access really enhanced our stay! It was lovely and the lounge had the same fabulous views as the room. The extra cost for the Grand Club room may be worth your while, or alternatively join Hyatt’s scheme and start racking up points when you stay, you might get the voucher too!! The hotel unfortunately doesn’t have a swimming pool, which is a shame. The Grand Hyatt San Francisco provides exactly what should be expected from high quality hotel chain. This hotel is far superior when compared with the Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf, which I found was very underwhelming at a previous stay. I would certainly recommend the Grand Hyatt San Francisco and will consider staying again, when in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and of the view you want!

The beautiful San Francisco skyline is definitely gorgeous from the high floor. Since your last stay, we have completed our renovation and the lobby is now very modern and cozy! Awesome view room of Union Square was perfect for my three night stay. My room was newly renovated and modern in design. Aside from some odd design features, I appreciated the remote controlled blackout window shade. I liked the morning coffee and pastry bar in the lobby. This bar's staff was helpful, cheery and professional. It was quick and easy. Requested synthetic bedding after checkin which was delivered pronto! Thank you.

Room Tip: Noise filtered into my room from the adjoining door. Ask for a non-adjoining room.
