We pre-booked three nights via booking.com - BIG mistake.
The hotel is old and we were not happy that this was specifically advertised as having free WIFI - yet the wifi did NOT work, at all - as in, it was dead and they did NOTHING to remedy it, instead I was lied in my face multiple times that it would be fixed. They have no idea how to fix it and they would not get an expert to fix it. It's essentially false advertising!
Our room had a wire mesh table and two matching chairs, and the surface on all of them was sticky/gluey for some unexplained reason, so that we could not use them! I complained about it, and I suggested to swap for furniture from a vacant room, but the guy seemed clueless in every aspect and we didn't want to wait until the next morning to have it all rectified.There was also a lamp with no shade!
We had just gone to bed after 11pm and were woken about half an hour later by lots of noise from upstairs...it sounded like moving furniture around and it would not end...so I investigated and knocked on the other people's door....3 young guys had just checked in and were unpacking and walking around their room....we could hear every single step and each move - fortunately, they were nice and went to bed themselves not too long after - but it gave us a good idea how badly this place was built....it is in serious need for a MAJOR renovation including soundproofing.

The next morning we were determined to check out and get a credit for the remaining two nights. The young guy (they only employ young male Indians) was unwilling and unhelpful in getting this done. He ended up ringing Booking.com after spending quite some time actually finding out their toll free number, and eventually we were speaking with a Customer service Rep in Holland...the problem was that this lady kept trying to call the hotel reception but the receptionist would not pick up the phone....so my wife went down to make him pick up...he wouldn't....then I went down, while my wife stayed on the phone with Booking.com, and I had an argument with him. More people filled the small reception area, including the cleaning staff...who were amused. I felt so helpless, as there was no manager to complain to.
We had to wait for two hours and spent a full hour on the phone to Booking.com, until the Manager finally walked in and processed our credit.

This very outdated "hotel" is in dying need of renovation.
Blood stains on mattresses and in the bed linen in several rooms.
Bed linen is teared up and rooms smell bad. Ants in the bathroom on the 3rd floor.
Elevator is one year overdue for inspection.

The room was clean, plenty of room even with two Queen beds, furniture was in good condition, beds comfortable, pillows not so much, convenient location, staff friendly and helpful and parking an issue (limited 10 vehicles). The room was equipped with a Microwave, refrigerator and counter space, which was very convenient for preparing snacks and light meals. Drawbacks are the traffic noise and no AC. On the fifth day of our stay the temp got up to 90 and the room was uncomfortable. There was a fan and we were able to cool the room down. The refrigerator freezer compartment was frozen over and a previous occupant had left something wrapped in a towel in the unit.

Room Tip: get a room in the back away from the street

Thank you for your nice review and honest feedback! Thank you for pointing out the cleanliness of your room, comfortable bed, amenities, convenient location and friendly staff. We work hard to provide comfortable and affordable lodgings in a great San Francisco location.

Our housekeeping staff is very diligent and works extremely hard. As you noted, the room was clean, however we apologize that they missed parts of the refrigerator. Your feedback will help us improve in the future. Also, as you noted, our rooms do not have air conditioning (it is almost never needed with San Francisco weather), but we we do offer fans for this occurrence and we are happy to hear that it worked to cool the room down. We hope that you will stay with us again on your next San Francisco adventure!

I booked here two weeks in advance and they overbooked it anyway. They sent me four blocks away. The lobby, building, staff all look and smell shady. Do not book here. Staff was arguing with guest when I went to check-in. Not a bad location. Parking was full.

I am not usually one to complain but this place was rough. Our room had a shared room with the neighbors and heavy smoke smells filled our room every night and lingered all day. The rooms where very loud and you could hear the neighbors partying till 4 in the morning. The front desk personal where very unhelpful. They acted like we where bothering them when we checked in and any time we asked for something. The mattresses where very uncomfortable and springy. We had no towels in our room when we checked in and the ones they gave us when we requested some where like sand paper. The door to our room stuck and was very hard to open and close. One time we even had to go get the frond desk to open it for us. Fridge and shower had mold. The shower door didn't close all the way so water leaked everywhere whenever you showered. There also was no thermostat in the room so you where stuck with whatever temperature it was in there. The breakfast consisted of bagged pastries and some orange juice. We stayed here for 3 nights. It worked for what we needed (a roof over our heads and a pillow to rest on) but I would not recommend it to anyone.
