Mirage Inn & Suites

The room was big enough to host to dance in! I had a full kitchen, Covered parking, Close enough to UCSF and the San Francisco zoo. I would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was and nothing extraordinary But there's quite a popular coffee shop just down the road

This hotel was rated well when I reviewed options for rooms in San Francisco. I decided to use this hotel for our overnight stay before going north to Oregon. It was clean but there were many detractors which others should know about: 1) There is no elevator to the lower level parking area or the second floor, if you have heavy suitcases it may be hard to negotiate the steep stairs; 2) The "continental breakfast" uses one small counter top -- there is a juice & coffee machine, a toaster and some pre-packaged pastries. There is no room to set your cup down while you make toast. There is no seating area at all, you are supposed to automatically know to bring down the tray from your room. The small counter top means the area becomes extremely congested with even a few people coming to see what they have for breakfast; 3) our room was at the end of the hall so it was quiet, but the bathroom door almost hit the side of the bed -- very strange room configuration -- there was room to make a much more convenient entrance to the bathroom.
The hotel is across from the Zoo, there is an old Pizza restaurant -- pizza is pretty good, but has only 3 tables. There is another restaurant on the corner, but they are the only two within walking distance.
Bottom Line: There is free parking. The rooms will suffice if you need a basic room with not much else. There are only two restaurants that are in walking distance.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street and at the end of the hall if you need a quiet room.

The room that was assigned for my stay was horrific. The stench of old cigarette smoke was everywhere. Would have left but there were no other hotels available
