Days Inn San Francisco - Lombard
Ranked #131 of 230 Hotels in San Francisco

I thought that Days Inn would be fine. But for the money I paid, I wish I had paid more and stayed some where else. The location was fine but the place was so old, although everything worked fine. There is no need for a business to let things get old and run down with wall paper coming off the walls. I always write something nice about where I stay but I am trying hard to find something. The towels were so old and the soap seemed to still be in it. The toilet rocked when sat on. It did have a nice shower curtain. "Breakfast" began at 8am and it was beverage, banana, and packaged unhealthy rolls. If you stay here, bring your own towels and ask for a room in the back because our street room got to be noisy with traffic. The room was very small. It did have a nice television with many channels. We would have left but it was prepaid on Priceline---shame on Priceline for renting such a poor room. It had no guest computer or laundry. Parking was tight but it was free.

Wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel. The price is reasonable which is why we decided to stay here but once you get into the hotel room, you will wish you had spent $20-$30 more for a cleaner/nicer hotel. We had cobwebs in our room and our mattress was terrible. If we hadn't booked a nonrefundable rate, we would have gone to another hotel. The location is great though, but still think there are some nicer hotels within the same area. And...the breakfast is pitiful. Spend a little more to enhance your stay in San Francisco.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night and I left with several painfully itchy bed bug bites! Even after applying anti-itch cream, the bites were bothersome and I had to deal with it my entire honemoon. Also, the room was incredibly dirty and our feet were black at the bottom, just from walking on the hotel room carpet and tile for one night! Although I did enjoy the location, I would not recommend this hotel for health reasons.

Very disappointed with the place. Parking too small, no enough parking space for the guest. Beware of room 114, room is smelly, molds all over the bathroom. Spider web corner of the room. When we book the room online it says they have queen beds but reality only double beds. Breakfast served late, Worst continental breakfast,no breakfast area.

We had horrible service. Room was smaller than picture. Wallpaper was falling off walls, floors were dirty and floorboards were actually sinking in our room. Bathroom shower mold was everywhere and hinges on bathroom door were so rusted you had to lift the door handle to open and close. Room smelled and had not been cleaned throughly from last guest. Beds were hard and pillows felt like sleeping on rocks. WORST HOTEL IN SF. Staff was unfriendly at best. If this hotel was ever inspected they would be shut down for sure. DO NOT STAY HERE!

It's quite far from Fisherman Wharf. It takes you more than 1 hour to walk there. The breakfast is very poor. They offer you a cup of coffee and a cake roll, instead of continental breakfast, as they promised. They even don't have a breakfast room. You should stand up in their small lobby if you want to get your breakfast. The internet speed is very very poor. You should sit in the corridor to get an access. The room ventilation is poor, too. The smell from the bathroom goes directly to the bedroom. Overall, this is a very disappointing experience.

Very good location, reasonably priced.
This hotel had a very good location right on Lombard Street which was close to restaurants and attractions. The room was adequate and had the convenience of a microwave and mini-fridge. The desk clerks were nice and accomodating. The continental breakfast consisted of hot beverages and orange juice plus prepackaged Danishes and also a few bananas. We usually ate breakfast at the IHOP which was a block away. There was alot of traffic noise as Lombard is a very busy main street. When you turned on the heat, there was a funky odour. My husband found the bed hard but I liked it. It would have been nice to have a dresser in the room as we kept our clothes in the suitcase for the entire 7 days. It was good hotel at a reasonable price. Public transportation was very efficient and close by.

From what we heard from others, summers tend to be cold here so we went in mid October and the weather was nice from 67-80. We went to alot of attractions and especially enjoyed the Alcatraz at night tour, the Wax museum, Fisherman’s wharf, Chinatown and the bay cruise. The seals at Pier 39 are also something to see and hear. The traffic is very crazy here and parking is expensive. Don't bother to rent a car - buy the City Pass for $59 which includes admission to museums and aquariums as well as unlimited public transportation. We even took the bus to Haight-Ashbury where the hippie movement is alive and well. There are so many restaurants here especially on Chestnut Street and this hotel was close to Plutos - a great salad and sandwich place with good food and good prices. Chinatown has good authentic Chinese food very reasonably priced too. Check out Union Square with all the high end shopping and beautiful buildings. We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge- it was windy but a great experience.
We loved our week in San Francisco. The people here were very friendly and the city is safe.
