“A nice European style hotel”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

When my wife and I visit San Francisco, we usually stay at the Cornell. It has a friendly, multilingual staff with lots of hand painted ornamentation on the walls. We like that it's a European style hotel instead of a giant chain hotel. The location is excellent with bus, cable car, and BART transport close by along with restaurants and Union Square. An American style breakfast is included and there is a parking garage across the street. We also like that foreign travelers stay there so it has a more international tone. We always feel like we're going to our special boutique hotel in the City.

Me and my fiancé spent 9 days at the hotel and had an amazing time. Staff is very good and professional, the hotel restaurant offers excellent food. The details engraved in every bit of the hotel walls and decoration were one of my favourite parts. I completely recommend.

I continue to love this hotel after being a guest for 20+ years. Although there have been changes in the office staff, the hotel and restaurant personnel remain the same and the owner is ever present with a family dog adding a safe non corporate feel to the property. The location is phenomenal, rooms are immaculate (hard to accomplish in older buildings) and the overall wish is to make your stay not only with them, but in San Francisco as well, a success. Breakfast is an amazing value and delicious. Did miss being not being able to dine there in the evening but the chef definitely deserves his vacations.

This hotel was everything advertised - a great little boutique hotel with charm and close to everything. My Mom, Sister and I spent 4 nights here and it was wonderful. The rooms were small but cpmfprtable, the breakfast was great, staff very nice. Would definately stay here again.

Wanted to stay near Union Square in a boutique hotel and this was a gem. The value exceeded my expectations - the location, service, character/ design of the hotel and hearty breakfast each day was worth a lot and the sweet golden retriever who hung out at check in was one of the best parts. Hotel was quiet too which is super important to me when jet lagged.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Not only was the location amazing, but the hotel was very cute and charming. The price could not be beat. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and wanted us to see everything that SF has to offer. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend this hotel to all of my friends and family!

Room Tip: We stayed in a "small" room and it was definitely small, but it worked out fine. We didn...

Small room, big value, helpful staff, nice breakfast, great location, would have appreciated more choice in bed pillows - hard and overstuffed is what we got - but happy with everything else. Would book again.
