“Good tourist hotel, nicely located”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

The hotel is nicely located near the Fishermans Wharf and the beginning of the street cable car. Especially when you have ply a short time to stay in SF. We walked down in about 10 minutes. After checking in we got a small room with one queen bed, on the even numbered side of the hotel. No view except for a blind wall. But I had asked for a room with 2 queen beds when I booked. So I went down to the reception at once. The receptionist made changes so we got the room, uneven number, we wanted, for the same price and with a view on the Bridge. This room was nice and spacious. The breakfast buffet was good. We had a pleasant stay in the hotel. Even though there were noises during the last night. Like some one was hammering little nails, doing maintenance/repairing?

The room smelled musty. The furniture was shabby. The heater was loud at night. We found on street parking and saved ourselves the hotel fee of $26 to park in their garage underground. We were on the second floor, so our view of the golden gate bridge was obscured by the trees, but you could see a small potion of it. The location is very good, and exactly where my family wanted to be. The price of the hotel was not bad for two rooms, but in the morning I found a bug in my room. I am not sure what kind of bug it was, but the manager assured me it was not a bed bug. The manager was professional and courteous, I'd give this hotel a two or a three if I didn't find that bug. Breakfast was so-so and very crowded, so go early. The glassware and china in the breakfast room have seen better days. The staff is friendly, but Id never stay here again because of that bug. I can deal with shabby furniture, poor quality bed sheets, but cleanliness is a must.

We stayed here in Nov/2012. Although the hotel is dated, it is clean and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast was good. Price was reasonable for the location (close to FW & downtown). Bus route just outside as well as the Hop on Hop off buses. This is a very busy hotel and everyone seemed to be enjoying their stay.

So the hotel was in a reasonable place (walking distance of the "ZigZag" bit of Lombard St and Pier 39) - breakfast was ok - lack of vending machines (one which wasn't working properly for 11 floors!)

We didn't pay the extra for a bay view. The room was comfortable, the staff were quite helpful.

From three hotels we stayed in on our recent vacation, this was the middle one as regards quality

Stayed 5 nights at this hotel. Renovations were taking place, so unfortunately we couldn't have a room with a view, instead we were jammed up against the back of an apartment building. That was a bit disappointing. Our room was one that had not yet been renovated, so it was pretty drab. But we didn't spend any amount of time in it!

The housekeeper did an excellent job and besides the enormous crowds at breakfast, you really wouldn't know anyone else was staying there.. Very quiet!

Back to breakfast.. Very large buffet, but poorly laid out. My advice is going very early to avoid crowds. The bread is on a different counter than the toaster, and to get across to the toaster is annoying. I couldn't believe how many people could be jammed in there at 9am.

The front desk staff was nice, and all in all we enjoyed our stay. It's not fancy, but it does the trick!

Get a good rate and try to get a view of the bay.

The hotelwas clean but needs updating in everyway. service was good, breakfast area was nice .we thought it was close to walk to the bay where everything was but it was we had to drive .the parking was bad unlessyou havea handicap sticker. one thing nice in town no matter were you park ifyou have a handicap sticker you need no money in the meters. I wouldn't stay here again there are a lot of hotels just as nice if not better for the same price

Room Tip: there aren't any and the views are not the best of the bay

We had a 2 night stay, bit disappointed as the rooms were a bit dark and had a 1970's dated look. No view and as we had booked and paid 10 months earlier disappointed in the rooms allocated. Breakfast was only adequate and desk staff were helpful and friendly.
If you need parking, it is available, but you are charged so you need to calculate this in to your budget.
5 to 10 minute walk to Fisherman's wharf.
