“Great place to stay!!!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights in early june and paid around £100 a night.
Really good location, clean rooms and helpful staff.
Good value for the price(in usa)
Rooms were large, clean and very comfortable.
Fastest lifts in the world(you wont wait longer than 10s) and iced water in reception was added bonus.
P.s. If you don't get breakfast included.. try the pinecrest diner on corner of mason/geary!!

This was our second stay at the Nikko in SF. Obviously, my wife and I returned because we had a good experience the first time a few years ago. The Union Square location is walking distance from lots of our favorite attractions, 5 mins to Union Square shopping, galleries, bars and restaurants...20 minutes from the Ferry Building and shops....20 minutes from ATT Field...10 minutes to the MOMA...and close to all the public transportation stops. There are even a couple of car rental places right across the street which we used for a three day side trip to the Wine Country. Our Imperial Floor room was comfortable, spotless and spacious. We We used the world-class gym every day and I had a hard time dragging my wife away from it to enjoy the city! We also enjoyed free WiFi and access to the pool, breakfast buffet and wine reception each day. We really like the staff went out of their way to treat us like we were special. Reggie...a valet at the drop off area made a special effort to track down my lost cell phone and send it to me at the airport in the Hotel Town Car in time to catch our flight home. He did this for a customer who was checked out and he may never see again! (Little does he know that we'll be back, partly to thank him!) That is service!

Room Tip: Upgrade to get the daily wine reception, Breakfast buffet, gym and pool access and free WiFi, It'...

my mom, my 2 teen boys and i went to San Francisco for a quick getaway. we needed accomodations for 2 bathrooms (obviously because of the 2 teens). we got the executive suite and couldn't have been happier. the rooms was beautiful, the beds were great, and the bathrooms just gorgeous. we had a 23rd story room with an amazing view. but beyond that, the staff was so nice and friendly and knowledgable. we asked a lot of questions every day regarding transportation, restaurants, sites, etc., and everyone knew their stuff. they knew us by name, and were just very welcoming and professional. i was also very happy they had a pool, since that was a requirement for us. perfect stay. oh, and prior to my visit i spoke with the reservation manager who caught an error, thus saving us more than $1000! that gesture was the service in a nutshell that lasted the entire stay. thank you Nikko.

Room Tip: go for the suite. worth it.

The hotel accommodated us and gave our family wonderful service from the reservation desk to the valet. We checked our car into valet pretty early in the day and our bags were held and brought directly to our room when we returned late in the evening to check in. They also were one of the few hotels willing to have a rollaway in double queen room. It's difficult traveling with 3 children to find hotels to do this and not have you in a suite or two rooms. The concierge was so helpful making excellent recommendations for restaurants with kids too. This is our second time staying at this hotel, once as a couple and this time as a family and they made every effort to ensure our visit was great. Great location near union square, short walk to cable cars, can hop off BART from SFO and walk to hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor if possible.

I stayed here recently for work. I arrived in the morning for meetings, so my room wasn't ready, which is totally understandable. I took my bag and went upstairs to the lobby to check in. I found the front desk help adequate, but not super helpful. I was told in order to check my bag I would need to go back downstairs and bring the bag to the bellman. That would have been a nice detail shared upon arrival. Overall, this kind of set the tone for my short stay. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was great. The room was nice, but nothing of note. I'd look elsewhere if it were on my dime.

We had originally reserved on the Nikko Floor and took advantage of an upgrade offer to the Imperial floor. Booked directly with the hotel and received great service from the front desk staff; it was nice putting a face to the name when checking in - thanks, Mari! Our room wasn't ready yet, but our luggage was stored. Upon returning to the hotel, our room was ready when promised and was spacious enough for myself, my sister and niece. As 3 women visiting the area, Christopher, the Concierge was very helpful in providing information and we always felt safe in the hotel and around Union Square. Yes, there were a large number of homeless people, but we never encountered any aggressive behaviour.

Getting back to the upgrade value, you receive access to the health/pool facilities, wi-fi, light
snacks between 5-7 in the evening and a continental breakfast hosted by friendly staff (I wish I could remember the name of the host in the morning as a shout-out) who took the time to make a special hot chocolate for my niece, and making this a memorable hotel experience overall.

Room Tip: Imperial floor is available with 2 queen beds as well as separate shower/toilet facilities convenien...

Great Location!! Service was also very good. Room are very small, but were comfortable nonetheless. i would definite choose this hotel as a tourist who does not plan to stay in the room. Also I don't understand why people keep saying there are a lot of homeless people around the hotel. There are homeless people throughout all major cities. They are not harmful and if you don't like it just avoid them by walking past!
