“Great base for a family holiday in San Francisco”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

We had a great stay here as a family of four in a room with two queen sized beds. The room was elegant, stylish and clean and we did not really hear any street noise. The hotel service was very good; they provided a rollaway bed free and for $20 extra we got access to the pool and gym. This was good value for the family, and it was nice to relax in the pool after a hard days sightseeing/shopping. If you have teenage children, I would definitely recommend a hotel location near Union Square. We were close to a big mall (Westfield Shopping Centre), and lots of other big branches of well known shops (Apple, Gap, Banana Republic etc). The big food court in Westfield helped solved a few family arguments about places to eat!

The hotel was not particularly good value for food; we found the cost of breakfast to be too high but there are loads of places to eat nearby including a Starbucks in the basement. This was also handy for occasional wi-fi access because the hotel wanted $16 a day for this! There was a fridge in the room which was very handy for keeping snacks and drinks. Overall we had a great stay here and would recommend the Hotel Nikko for any families wanting a city based holiday in San Francisco.

Dear groverwash,

Thank you for your kind words. One way to keep dining costs down is by purchasing a Food and Beverage Credit at the front desk on arrival. A $100 credit may be purchased for only $75.00 It is only available on arrival so make sure to ask for it on your next visit. Reservations booked through TripAdvisor.com and via our own website are also eligible for complimentary internet by using the promo code “internet” We can’t wait to have you back.

Warm regards,

I have stayed at a variety of hotels in SF over the years and I seem to keep returning to the Nikko. Its a smaller less hectic hotel 3 blks from Union Sq in dtwn SF. Its clean comfortable and it is quiet and calm. The lobby is 1 floor off the street and with a sophisticated marble lounge and check in .. its really a nice place. I have stayed in a variety of rooms and usually booking thru hotels.com its gotten be reasonable rates barring any large convention. I have always called the hotel and enquired about the specials they have and you can count on one or two which include parking , internet and breakfast or a combo of the three. The only draw back is the parking charge where 2 blks away you can park for $20 per night rather than $50 and there is no bar , the lobby looks like a nice bar could be set up .... We like the indoor pool workout room large. The pool is awesome especially mid winter and you get a warm indoor pool for the kids! and the breakfast is great a combo of Japanese and American I usually ask for a voucher at check in. The Nikko is not the fanciest place in SF but the comfort and location usually come with a great price.

Room Tip: Call the hotel and they can 'ALA CARTE" a room rate for you.... see if you can get an imper...

This hotel was AMAZING. It was my boyfriends birthday. I normally stay at an older property but I wanted something different. The view amazing. We stayed on the Imperial Floor. Breakfast was great , evening appetizers and wine, GREAT. The staff was lovely. HI Jennifer, Ashley and Ernesto. My boyfriend was impressed and pleased. The bed was super comfortable. I WIIL BE RETURNING. I walked down to Macy's, one block away. The GYM was great. Sauna, steam room, new exercise equipment and a reformer for pilates. Thank you Hotel Nikko , for making our first birthday SPECIAL.

Room Tip: Stay on the Imperial Floor. BEST DEAL EVER. 2403

Hotel Nikko San Francisco is located only two blocks from the Union Square and one block away from the Powell St. line cable car. Also only two blocks away from the Westfield San Francisco Center (shopping mall include the Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's ++). Very centrally located. The hotel has very large gym - one of largest hotel gyms I have visited - equipped free weight to all kinds of cardio machines/almost all equipments are brand new. It has also an indoor swimming pool with sunlighted. Open 24/7 with your card key. I visit this hotel regularly 3-4 times a year....always feel welcomed. Everyone at hotel is very friendly and can-do attitude. Club lounge on the 23rd floor serves good self service breakfast from variety of yogurts, fruit juices, good selection of morning rolls, fruits, cereals and eggs. Plus the lounge has 3-4 computer terminals for you to use – free of charge. Housekeeping services are very professional manner and timely. Also available turndown services. Bathroom amenities (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion) are all good size. There is a coffee/tea making machine in room. Addition to your in-room coffee, Starbucks coffee is off lobby...very convenient. I have not tried Anzu restaurant this time, but they were very good on my previous visits for breakfast and also for sushi.

Room Tip: #2432, #2434 these great rooms have a view of Union Square, Trans America Building and the Bay Bridg...

I have meaning to write this review since last September, I honestly cannot rate this hotel highly enough.
My boyfriend and I do a huge amount of travelling and visit the US regularly, I private mailed the hotel on Facebook before our visit and to our surprise on arrival after two long flight, Dublin to New York and New York to San Francisco we were very pleasantly surprised to be greeted with an envelope containing 2 free vouchers for drinks and a room upgrade:-)
The hotel is wonderfully modern and trendy, the bar is chic with a great atmosphere, the hotel location is perfect for exploring San Francisco and the rooms are amazing including TVs in the bathroom mirrors, cool rain showers and huge baths and top all this off with an amazing view of the city!

This property is simply fantastic. The location couldn't be better. However, it's the outstanding service that makes it all worthwhile. From the people at the front desk to the meeting room staff to the bellman to the guy in the business center, it was all excellent. The rooms are spacious and exceptionally clean. The bathroom was enormous.
