“Great Place to Stay in Fisheman's Wharf”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

I took the advise of other Tripadvisor reviewers and booked this hotel for a 4 night stay. We were not disappointed! The hotel is older but has been remodeled very comfortably. We had a 4 th floor room which was very quiet. No view, but we were usually outside taking in the sights anyway. The staff is exceptional: made us feel as if this were a 4 star hotel. Nice lobby with a cozy atmosphere overlooking a beautiful courtyard. Wine is served every evening in the lobby. I cannot say enough about the helpfulness of the staff! Also, the connecting restaurant is friendly and a great place to eat. Overall, this was a great experience on a limited budget. I would gladly stay there again.

Room Tip: Supposedly it is better to stay on a higher floor to avoid the noisy street. However, we did not fin...

having read the reviews on here, I had high expectations of this hotel. its not that i had a really bad time while staying here, but the experience was nothing special. the first interaction i had with hotel staff was with the valet, who advised me as soon as i pulled in that parking would be 45 USD per night. Fortunately I had booked a deal which included parking! The check-in staff were friendly but they did not think to offer us a room off of the main street which I think they should have done given we were travelling with a child. i guess they dump the street rooms on tourists who do not know any better, which i find really objectionable. so we were subjected to the noise from the road outside the hotel each night. the room was a let down. there was an odd smell which i think is due to the fact that since you cant open the windows in the room, the rooms are never properly aired. we also found the occasional ant. whilst the photos on the website are accurate, up close the room we stayed in had seen better days. i did not raise any of this with the hotel staff to be honest - i'd rather not waste my holiday time arguing with the management. they have one shot to get it right! I think for the money, this is not great value. on the plus side, the location is great, and the free wifi worked well.

Green Features: No information was given on the hotel's environmentally friendly practices.

Hi Niall B - The world famous San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf is one of the top 10 Tourist Destinations in America. Fantastic location which includes the noise, traffic, people, life, hustle, bustle, hubbub and everything else which goes hand in hand with a major metropolitan area and urban environment. Many guests enjoy the local flavor and revel in experiencing the sights, sounds and smells of the city. For guests who have a preference of room type, location, bedding or any other preference, please let our fabulous front desk staff know and we will do everything we can to find just the right room for you. If you check into your room and are not satisfied, a quick call to the front desk will happily begin a search for a room which will be more to your liking. We’re a bit let down too that we never had the opportunity to hear about your room preference till the morning of your departure. One shot to get it right? Sometimes it takes a few swings of the bat to knock it out of the park. Thanks for staying with us and sorry we did not end up being a good fit for your needs. We wish you safe travels and happy trails…

I enjoyed our vacation to San Francisco since this was the first time I have ever been to CA. My sister recommended we stay at the Tuscan. What a great hotel! I was completely satisfied and truly enjoyed our 5 day stay. The beds were so comfortable more than my own bed at home. Happy hour every evening in the lobby from 5-6, coffee and hot chocolate every morning from 6-10 and 2 large pitchers of ice water with lemon always available (even a large jar of dog biscuits). Great location - walking distance to every main attraction and grocery store. Hotel staff are great and very friendly. Clean and comfortable with all the comforts of home. We are heading back to San Francisco next year and I will be staying again at the Tuscan. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We choose the double queen room on the second floor - very quiet.. Beds were so very comfortable I...

This hotel was clean and comfortable but the location was the best part! My husband and I traveled with 3 other couples and none of us can say anything bad about this hotel. The wine reception every night was so nice and we met several people while at the reception. The room was small but how much time do you really spend in there? The restaurant in the hotel was very good and the service was great!
We rented a car for 2 days but parked it overnight at the rental lot so we didn't pay for parking.
We will definately stay here again when we visit San Francisco again!

Queen room had very little room to move around, put toiletries in the bathroom and had only 1-18" rack to hang towels & wash clothes. May be ok for business traveler. Restaurant was ok. Wine reception was good.

Hi georgel674 - Sorry to learn that you were not satisfied with your visit. The Tuscan Is a European style boutique hotel and the rooms are definitely "cozy". Indeed, rooms with only one queen bed will be the "coziest" of all rooms. We do offer larger rooms at the hotel for those who prefer a little more leg room. Anytime a guest is not happy with their room, a quick call to the front desk will begin our very best efforts to find a room which will be better suited for your needs. Most of the time we can accommodate (based on availability of course)

Thanks for your kind words and we wish you safe travels and happy trails and may all your future accommodations be comfortable and satisfying.

This was a very nice hotel. It was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. It was an excellent location for out first visit to San Francisco as it was within a short walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and all the great restaurants and tourist activities. We would definitely recommend it.

We stayed here during our SFO trip...The hotel is very well located at Fisherman's Wharf - the hub of tourists attraction...Walkable distance to cable car trips, ripley's believe it or not, pier 39, Aquarium of bay, Bay Cruise starting point,hop-on hop off tours and everything touristy...The hotel room was clean and comfortable for us - a little small compared to the photos you will see on the website...but overall very good. Staff were warm and friendly and helpful!! Free wine in the evening and tea/coffee in the morning...Walkable distance to eateries and good restaurants! Overall a nice hotel to stay at SFO esp with family and kids.
