“On top of the city!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

Another stop in this lovely hotel on top of San Francisco.
My room this trip has just one bed but ample room to move around and relax. Large desk in the corner, big TV which can be seen from any angle of the room and lots of storage space within the bathroom area, which has large marble basin and separate loo and bath/shower area, which can be neatly closed off via sliding doors.
Decor has recently been updated and generally has a crisp modern feel - my only concern is the hotel's corridor carpet. Bright yellow with large coloured spots! Umm not sure who's idea that was...? Also it is already looking warn in places and mixed with the peach walls ruins an otherwise great refit.
This hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of the city where you can walk down in any direction to get to where you want to be, only advice, save some energy (or the fare ride!) for the walk back up!!

This hotel is located in a prime area which is close to Chinatown, Union Square and not far from the Embarcadero and the Ferrys. We stayed at the hotel for 3 days and found most of the staff to be helpful. There was one episode with the concierge where his attitude was less than helpful, but the doormen, bell men and the other conceirge Ric were helpful and polite. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. TV was a nice size and the bathroom was fine. The one thing that really bothered us was there was no free wifi anywhere in the hotel, not even in the business center. That was annoying. We were looking forward to eating in the restaurant that was shown online that overlooked the street and was glass enclosed only to find out that it was closed and not being used anymore. Small exercise room. Overall the place was fine.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Executive lounge has great views out over the city and to the bay. Short walk down the steep hill to other attractions including Fisherman's Wharf. You can take the cable car back up to the hotel. Book early to get a good rate as this hotel is very expensive. There are many conventions in San Francisco so booking hotel rooms early is a must.

Room Tip: My room was on the 7th floor and had a great view out to the Bay.

Situated on Nob Hill and on the Cable Car route, this is a good base for visiting San Francisco, that said, it does stand at the TOP of the hill from town, so if you are a walker on your travels, this one will get you fit. I stay here regularly for business and am very happy to do so.

Rooms are not huge, but plenty spacious enough, always clean, with excellent beds, well appointed bathrooms, plenty or hanging space, the usual big flat screen TV, Mini Bar, Safe.WiFi thoughout the hotel, though there is a daily charge for this.

Another reviewer mentioned a room on the first floor, overlooking an alleyway and garbage cans ... I've also experienced a room in this location, didn't appreciate the noise from the early collection service, and bottles being dumped, that said, most hotels have one side facing something less than pleasant, so perhaps on booking, specify that you don't want a room that side. I'm happy to get an inward facing room, I don't spend my time in the room looking much out of the window, so the plus side is no traffic noise from the street or passing Cable Cars, but I can still check out of the window for the weather.

The Hotel has a small restaurant, limited, but quality menu and an excellent selection of Wines, available by the glass . I've always found the service good and staff friendly, polite and helpful. Particular mention to the Concierge staff, always busy, but ever helpful, the doorstaff always have a welcome.

There is a well equipped, reasonable sized Gym on the first floor, open 24 hours (good for those with jetlag.)

Room Tip: Don't worry about getting an inward facing room, these tend to be quieter.

The hotel is in a great location of Nob Hill. The service was outstanding all the way around. Anytime anything was needed in the room, it was brought up promptly. The concierge desk was very helpful. Setting up the rental car through them was simple and waiting for us in front when we needed it.The employee's were all very pleasant and accommodating.

Stayed at the Renaissance Stanford for business. Couldn't get the discounted booking rate for the reserved block of rooms because they indicated they were all sold out. I booked the room anyway after being told it would be $50 more one night and $80 another night (Friday). When we arrived it was late. The room was on the first floor and when we got to the room we went to close the drapes, and noticed we had a pleasant view of the alley and a row of garbage cans. It was too late to go back to the front-desk and get the room changed. You can imagine there was some noise in the morning as garbage cans were being filled or emptied. I called the front-desk to find out if we could get another room; something higher up and quite. A view would have been nice, too. They gave us a room on the 7th floor and told us the room would not be available until later on in the afternoon.

The hotel has a very small restaurant and bar area and no sundries shop. This was a little disappointing for the price they charge per night. The staff was friendly, always willing to assist and the concierge was very helpful when asking for directions or information.

The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of San Fransisco and is very average. It is clean, but the carpeting and facilities are starting to show their wear. Beds are comfortable and rooms are a decent size.

For the price per night, I expected a little more.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher floor away from the alley.

I loved the hotels position and rooms for this level of hotel the rooms and amenities were fine. The location near the cable car made getting to either the wharf or city easy . The only problem encountered was with the bell captain and concierge we arrived early and left our bags and a jumper with the bell captain when the bags were delivered to the room the jumper had disappeared . However what really frustrated was the lack of care follow up and service offered by the hotel later . The concierge A recorded message !!!! Never returned my call the bell captain really offered no solutions and reception never even offered a courtesy of an apology . Keep your belongings with you here !
