“MOON CAKES”
Reviewed March 25, 2012

Yes egg custards are great but my God the moon cakes are too die for. We got some kind with coconut and dried fruit and nuts. I thought it was kinda pricey at over $4.00 it lasted a long time! We had to get another to bring back home, it was soo good!

“Unbeatable Chinese Bakery in San Francisco”
Reviewed March 22, 2012

Whenever you see a line skirt past pedestrians on San Francisco's Grant Avenue
in Chinatown, be assured that this is not a ruse! Folks patiently line up for a particular
reason!! Golden Gate Bakery creates the most luscious & delectable Chinese egg custard tarts around! Bite into this delectable treat and experience the delicate crispy crust shatter into tender tidbits while the egg custard is able to hold it's own with its clean, creamy, natural flavor. The first thing I always visually notice about these tarts are their faint yellow, lemony-colored filling, indicating to me, that they lack any articifical
colorings and sweetened only enough witih a discerning hand. For $1.25, this little
tartlet is a steal! Golden Gate offers a number of other outstanding baked items, but hands down, their egg custard tarts (aka "don tats") stand head above shoulders to anyother Chinese bakery miles around! Over the years, this bakery has been able to take their craft and talent and turn it into a science - knocking out these little sweethearts day in day out. For sure, they are certainly unbeatable!

“It's all good...”
Reviewed February 10, 2012

We stop here every time we head to Chinatown. Everything is wonderful! Love their pork buns, mooncakes, almond cookies, macaroons. We take a big box home of goodies too. Their claim to fame is a visit from Bill Clinton...but go for the goodies, yum! Oh, and don't forget to get some Chinese donuts...:)

“2nd best egg tarts in the world”
Reviewed January 20, 2012

Best egg tarts in North America compared to NYC and Toronto. Second best in the world behind Hong Kong's Tai Cheong bakery. Delicious and hot and fresh.
Miss these dearly.
