Plain and ham and cheese croissant place, also love Lemon tart and Kouign Amann (very crispy and not so sweet).

I don't eat pastries often but I could become addicted to theirs. SF has many French bakeries and for me this one rates as high as Tartine.

Best pastry I've ever had. There isn't much else to say...

Ok, ok...so the chocolate croissant is over-stuffed with chocolate and it's so buttery and divine. The butter croissant is better than you've ever had. The Kouign-aman will melt your heart. The chocolate "chip" cookie will leave you in a state of desire for your next visit. The morning bun will make you lick your fingers. My husband's favorite is the ham and cheese.

San Francisco is packed with a million and eight experiences. I live here and only write about the best and the worst.

With several hundred bakeries dotting the street of San Francisco, it’s nearly impossible for a new bakery to break through the list of world class places like Tartine, B. Patisserie and Craftsman and Wolves.

Armando Arsicault, a third generation French baker, who runs the Arsicault Bakery. He makes some of the best pastries on planet earth in an unassuming Parisian-style pâtisserie on Arguello, near Clement Street.

Most bakeries in America are guilty of undercooking the croissants and overcooking the scones. Not so at Ariscault Bakery. The golden croissants are flaky, and the scones are just-to-die-for good.

Want to be transported to Paris in a flash, just order a Paille or a Kouign Amann. Want a bonus? Talk to the intelligent staff that work there. They are friendly, well informed and a joy to talk to.

Yes, that’s what I would do with my last hour and the last four bucks in San Francisco.

Stopped here thinking I would get some traditional breakfast treats. Actually left because I was underwhelmed with the relatively small number of options. Finally came back and got a chocolate croissant and another item that I taste tested ("caramelized layers blah blah blah" she said ... I was hooked). Both were delicious and a nice break from the Dunkin Donut treats I normally eat.
