Not impressed! We come from belgium, Bruges, where the best chefs serve far better food! Sorry! It was very weird that the menu was only for 2 or 4 persons, we were 3 and that was an odd number for Al, weird!

The atmosphere and decor are lively and hip -- without a pretentious vibe (I so appreciate this!).

The food is delectable, creative and combines flavors in unexpected ways which works.

The vegetarian (moi) and the carnivores were equally happy here -- we chose à la carte to best satisfy everyone.

The music added to the enjoyment of the evening. And the music notes are a nice touch.

***Well deserving of the Michelin star***

We did the tasting menu (also called Family menu) and found it top notch. 6 different nibbles began the dinner - some sublime - others good. salad basically is the key here and it is served in many forms. The fish course is surrounded by greens, a huge pull apart salad with an avocado dressing underneath was a highlight. The hanger steak was seasoned with salmon butter which added a wonderful taste. If you sit at the counter, you can chat with Aaron (Al) himself. A long line begins at 5:30 for those not having reservations, so make a rezzie!!! Music was way too loud at the top but then quieted down a bit so conversation became possible. Wonderful and informed staff with a wide assortment of wine options. (Germany, France, Spain, and the USA.)

The food is interesting and the service is great. Warning the patio seating is on the street sidewalk but still good. Lots of interesting choices and the staff is helpful. The wines are pricey and not your typical choices. It is a casual upscale culinary experience.

We had a fantastic meal at Al's Place. The food is really clever and tasty. We had about six different things and everything was exceptional. It all looks beautiful but this is not at all style over content, it all tasted great as well.

It's a busy place and so definitely book if you want to be sure of a table.
