Owner description: Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

I loved this beach which had very few people on it when we went. You can capture some great pics of the GG Bridge from here at sunset. You will find many photographers around. It's also a popular spot for couple shoots.

Beware this is a nude beach! So may not be for kids.

I have been to his beach on previous trips to San Fran since I love clothing optional beaches. Today was the first time I have ever gone on a weekend and the level of exhibitionism on display by old dudes is out of control.

Ordinarily nudists like myself keep to the far end of the beach out of the way of families and others who just want to enjoy the beautiful views. Today I witnessed awful behavior by old men who try their best to time their constant nude walks around families and women. One guy plopped himself right by the water's edge on a beach chair wearing just a shirt (why?). Others decided to go nude in the family section. The whole thing was just an embarrassment! One old guy plays with himself while walking the shoreline. These are the type of guys who forced San Fran politicians to change the long standing open minded nudity laws in SF. The Castro type guys that thought their rights to be perverts outweighed the mindset of a city. Just a pity people can't b normal and not force people into confrontations in this city. I really wanted to go punch one of these guys today!

Cry'in shame when a few will ruin it for everyone!

I wanted to go here as I've seen the beach in many films, and have already done a lot of attractions on previous visits. After walking the coastal trail to get here,I wasn't that amazed. It was a horribly windy day,the sand is grey and the water was too.Still, this does not deter local nudists, who manage to pop up in your photos no matter how hard you try to avoid them.I basically walked up to the rocks, snapped a shot of the bridge, and left. There's toilets, and picnic/bbq facilities, which is probably nice if you have good weather.I left feeling very underwhelmed. There's better beaches in the world, and more interesting things to see in San Francisco.

Baker Beach has the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge. You can get right up under it almost! And it's not that busy either! The best view is at the north end and that's the part that is clothes optional!

You also have the famous Escape from Alcatraz triathlon Sand Ladder near the north end, which is great to try to run up! It's seriously tough going!!

Simply stunning for the sunset!! The beach is clean, wasn't too busy though we did go there in the evening specifically at sundown. Not disappointed though. The view up to Golden Gate Bridge is excellent too. I'd love to see it again someday!
