Owner description: Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

The beach so close to downtown SF, but a great getaway from the city.

“Fabulous view of the GG Bridge and the Marin Headlands”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

Baker Beach is right off the 49-mile scenic drive in SF, yet it seems to receive very few visitors and not many more locals. Yet, the views from here and from continuing the drive further west are spectacular on a clear day. And when it's a little foggy, a short walk along the beach evokes an interesting moodiness.

“Get the best photos here!”
Reviewed November 21, 2011

With the gorgeous backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, this beach makes for the perfect souvenir photo op. The beach is wide and long. Be warned that there are sometimes nude sunbathers, although there were seen on a warm November Thursday.

“Too Many Nudes”
Reviewed November 4, 2011

I took the family to Baker Beach to take some family photos. The good news - great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and excellent weather in October. The bad news - too many nude guys roaming around to take the family. Most of these guys are old and wrinkled - and by themselves....enough said. They are all over the place, not just in one section of the beach. I saw families, young people, old people all clothed and all enjoying the day and then an old wrinkle wearing nothing but a cowboy hat walking along the beach - Nasty!

“Great spot”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Stopped here on the way back from Sausalito. Got really lucky with the weather while in SF, so we had a beautiful view of the Golden Gate bridge.
