The Golden Gate Hotel is a charming establishment near Union Square in San Francisco. It's very near the cable car line, within walking distance of the BART station, and surrounded by a number of cafes and Asian restaurants.
Like many guests, I was first drawn to the Golden Gate because of the resident pets. Pip the chamberlain takes his job quiet seriously, checking out each guest. His attentions are much in demand and he quite enjoys the affections of female guests, occasionally visiting the rooms and announcing his presence by scratching gently at the door.
The rooms at the Golden Gate vary. Some of the rooms with shared toilet actually have a private shower, which spares one from the dorm-like feel of padding down the hallway wet-haired. The ensuite rooms are larger, some with shower, others with claw foot bath. The beds are comfortable and the decor tasteful and cheery. Rooms at the back of the hotel are especially peaceful, overlooking a quiet garden.
Among the things that make this inn exceptional are the very friendly and knowledgeable owners and staff. These people know a great deal about the area and go out of their way to be friendly and helpful.
I will definitely stay here again.More
