“Noisy, pricey, pushy and much better nearby”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

This as local to where we were staying but is clearly frequented by those who drive (very large 4X4 vehicles from looking at the car park) because it has a dedicated car park. It is a good use of former military buildings in a nice setting in the Presidio grounds - that says about all the positives. The food was OK overall. The soup (corn chowder) and prawns were good but the meatloaf was dry and over spiced. We avoided dessert.

The place has little sound deadening material and is full of noisy groups. The most bizarre part - for Europeans and New Zealanders like us - was the ridiculous 5 minute-plus ritual the waitress had to go through explaining all the specials and what was in them/how they were cooked - cant this restaurant produce a typed sheet of specials to go with the menu so we can read and consider in peace instead of listening to this spiel at our table and then at al lthe neighbouring tables? Infuriating and stupid since it is impossible to remember all the details.

It was also clear that they operate a timetable apporach to tableoccupation and we felt "processed" through our very short evening. Incomparison with the excellent quality food and good service at nearby Liverpool Lil's on the previous night this was a very bad deal altogether. Good only for the view.

“Countryside feel”

I would say just an average restaurant, which is not a negative, in fact nice to have. The food was acceptable as was the service. What raised it above others was the excellent attention to detail by the hostess, I think her name was Gina, quickly found a table even on a busy nite even it it looked full, would recommend

“Charmed restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013

Good food and great service nestled on the old Presidio base. While the restaurant smells a bit like an old barrick, the food and service are well worth looking past that issue. Simple interior and nice views of Letterman Digital Arts.

“Good food & atmosphere in the Presidio”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Lovely small restaurant at the edge of the Marina District in the Presidio, perfect before a show at the Palace of Fine Arts(short drive away). My partner & I shared a meal of fish of the day(grilled swordfish), and a plate of the many delicious well-prepared side vegetables at the Social Club--fantastic meal. The smashed peas with mint oil are the very best, along with roasted carmelized carrots, spinach with pine nuts and currants, and roasted asparagus. Also, a superb salad of butter lettuce in a subtle vinaigrette, with tiny snipped herbs throughout was a standout(butter lettuce assembled in a stack, tiny inner leaves on top).We saw many parties enjoying cocktails and steak, but it's possible to dine here w/o meat. Dine on the weekend and there is free parking inside the Presidio, and great walks around the Letterman complex and the entire park.Somewhat pricey, but worth the trip for a special meal.

“Great ambiance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

I always enjoy going to this restaurant. Located inside the Presidio, you get a feeling of how the officers restaurant must od been back in the day. The service is attentive and has a great knowledge of all the food served here.
The menu is small but has everything one could want. Don't miss the cheese toast....they are incredible.
