My first time to San Francisco, and it couldn't have been any better! This hotel is in the perfect spot, right on the border of Chinatown and Little Italy. Everything is within walking distance and that's a big thing since parking is not easy in this city. The staff couldn't be any more friendly! They really made my family and I feel at home offering extra pillows, towels and blankets without hesitation. They also gave out free pastries each morning and you can go down and ask for more if you'd like. They have a washer/dryer available for guests with free laundry soap. If you stay, balcony rooms are nice and big, make sure you try to reserve one of those!
I now know where my home away from home is when visiting San Francisco, it's here at the Royal Pacific Motor Inn!

Great place to stay once you find it! With all the action in Chinatown and being close to North Beach this was a perfect no frills stay! Free parking was also key. Walking to so many attractions is easily done for the aptly able...but cabs or cable cars are readily available and close. Good staff in office and all the dim sum you can eat!!! Rooms are nothing special and a bit noisy (you are right above broadway If you get that side). I would definitely go back!

We read the reviews before we booked and they were spot on. This was the cheapest option in the area for what we wanted (i.e. not a dive!) and offered clean rooms, reasonably comfortable beds, free and easy parking and a fantastic location. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water but the complimentary shampoo wasn't worth using or taking away for future consumption. Bring your ear-plugs because traffic noises, both vehicles and people, will keep you up all night unless your exhausted and/or have ear plugs handy. We were both exhausted and equipped with ear plugs so it was fine, but you wouldn't want to stay here for more than one or 2 nights. We walked to the cable car and spent the evening in Fisherman's Wharf but being right on the Chinatown border was advantageous also - plenty to see and do all around.

Room Tip: I'd suggest you get a room overlooking the carpark, rather than the roadway - this reduces the n...

We were passing through San Francisco to go north, and spent some pleasant time here. The hotel has a great location, and free parking… we were around the corner from the brilliant City Lights bookstore, walking distance from a memorable evening meal, and able to get basically everywhere on foot. We didn't have a room overlooking broadway, so it was pretty quiet, too. Rooms are nothing special, but I wan't in San Francisco to stay in my room!

For the price, this hotel was still not a decent place to stay. Check in was fine; the staff was very nice. Parking was ok, and challenging at best. It was nice that parking was free.

The location of the hotel was convenient, as advertised. Right at the border of North Beach, Chinatown, and only a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. Plus, we had a nice view of the old TransAmerica Tower from the room.

Our room was less than desirable for the price. The sink was filthy with some brown film. We cleaned it ourselves. The room walls must have been very thin, as we could hear more noise from other rooms and people outside in the hallway on the phone than any room should have allowed in. No air conditioning appeared to exist, though I didn't look very hard for it.

While we were not in the room to watch TV, at the end of the day, some news or something to watch for relaxation is nice. However it is not relaxing when the video quality is so bad that the picture is frustrating to watch. There were lines across the screen no matter what channel we selected. Enough about the TV.

I would not recommend this hotel at all for nearly $200/night.

Ample room space, incredibly close to most parts of the city, clean. A little loud, but that is to be expected only a few yards off of Broadway. The non-smoking policy is taken very seriously. Helpful staff called a taxi for us to return to the airport and helped me find a location to ship a package. Weekday rates are more reasonable than weekend rates.

I have noticed that some of the reviews of this hotel complain of street noise, and yes, there is some. I guess the question is whether you expect to have noise at a hotel that is located in the midst of a busy city or not. My wife and I personally liked the view from our room, though it did face the street and was a bit noisy. But we found the price to be good for the location, and the room was well furnished and comfortable. The TV was useless, but then we don't visit SF to watch TV. Otherwise, this hotel has everything you would want in the heart of SF. We loved the Chinatown location and didn't find it the least bit dangerous. You could practically walk out of the hotel and hit Grant Street right off: perfect. Include free parking and good service all around, and I find it hard to believe that you could get a better place at a better price in a better, more central location.
