“If you only have one day in San Francisco do this tour”
Reviewed September 12, 2008

We had only one day in SF and wanted to see as much as possible. This trip showed us much more in one day than we could have seen on our own in two days. We took the 5 hour SFtour and was pleased. There were some rough spots in the tour, much more walking than we thought we would do. Although I think that depends on your tour guide.

The bus was clean, cool, and comfortable. The stops on this tour is what makes it special. Don't worry to much about the places they see you will see because you just drive by them.

We got to see fantastic views of the painted houses and the SF skyline. In Chinatown there was a Harvest festivel going on and it was packed. However we did get to see a parade with the dragon. Pretty cool.

I would recommend this to anyone.

“Muir Woods is Wonderful...just avoid the pre-paid tours!”
Reviewed August 29, 2008

My husband and I prepaid for a Muir Woods tour (1-2 weeks in advance) through www.sanfranshuttletours.com. Bad Idea! We were told to meet at 12:45pm at the Ferry Building Clock Tower...and we even called the day of to confirm this time and place. So...at 12:45pm we were AT the clock tower of the San Francisco Ferry Building only to find one of the tour guides (City Sightseeing guides in bright red jackets) leaving with a group of people. We chased him down and he proceeded to tell us that we were late and needed to go back and find some other tour guide to discuss it. We hustled back to the Ferry Building only to find No One There! Our tour had left us already and sold our pre-paid tickets to some other people! We immediately called the company to see about re-scheduling or getting our money back only to be told that this would be impossible. They would not give us a manager's name and after leaving multiple messages for a manager to call us back after we returned home from our trip, we have not once had any person return our calls to discuss what happened!
To prevent this from happening to other visitors...my husband and I Highly recommend taking a taxi out to Muir Woods (Much Cheaper and Flexible) and walk around the park at your only pace. My husband and I stayed for a couple hours and by that point, were ready to head back to San Francisco. The tour would've made you stay about 5 hours or so! Another cheaper option than the City Sightseeing Tour would be to take a ferry from the Ferry Building to Sausalito and there are shuttles there to take you to Muir Woods (Only on the Weekends though).

Muir Woods was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and worth the trip...so if anyone is considering going...just take a taxi or the ferry and a shuttle bus! Avoid City Sightseeing and SanFranShuttle Tours..they have a very, very Bad reputation (which we found out personally and from the staff at the Westin St. Francis Hotel!!) HAPPY TRAVELING!

“great introduction”
Reviewed August 28, 2008

We really enjoyed this tour. We had never been to San Francisco before and this was an excellent introduction to the city. Our guide (Lisa) was friendly and knowledgeable. We liked getting off the bus regularly and walking through the different areas. Like a lot of people we left the tour in Sausalito, had a lovely afternoon there and then went back on the ferry later. It was a good idea to give people this option. I would recommend this tour to anyone new to the city.

“Comprehensive - But there are some negatives...”
Reviewed June 17, 2008

Went on the comprehensive 5 hour tour of San Francisco during an afternoon session. The running commentary was good - hit the highpoints and provided accurate, interesting facts about history, landmarks, and points of interest. The ferry ride over to Sausalito was nice. Unfortunately, the bus was about 10/15 minutes late picking us up in Sausalito - and we got further behind as the day progressed. At some of the stops we were rushed off and on while we lingered at some stops that could have been shorter stops or viewed from the shuttle bus as effectively. One stop listed on the website itinerary was completely passed over - with no explanation. We were instructed to report to the Ferry Building at 11:25 to get tickets and check in - with tour to start at 11:45 - and ending time at 5:00 according to web site (hence the 5 hour tour title). Just prior to boarding the ferry we were told that we would be returning at 5:30. Actually, we stepped off the shuttle bus at 6:00 pm. It was a long tour - for all the rushing around we did.
